Bulbapedia talk:List of link templates
Why is this protected now? I sometimes create new Shortlink and add them here: like the {{an}}
that I created. File:Ani282MS.gifNetto-kun TalkFile:Ani392MS.gif 13:38, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- Well, it's mostly because it's a Bulbapedia policy. I myself was wondering as I was protecting it if this one should be left alone. I'll ask around and get back to you. --PAK Man Talk 13:39, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- I don't know if this should be protected or not, but I think it shouldn't. After all, some people like me, create Shortlink templates and aren't Admins to add here. File:Ani282MS.gifNetto-kun TalkFile:Ani392MS.gif 13:42, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
The "G" template
On my talk page, one of the admins told me not to use it as a laziness template. I haven't gotten a response yet, so I will ask it here. If the g template can't be used in that manner, what can it be used for? I was unaware of the new policy being implemented. --rockersk08 23:17, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- It's only for games, hence the letter "g". You probably used it for something else involving the word "Pokémon", which is not the intended use.--RexRacer 23:41, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- If it's only for games, and the "pkmn" template does baisicaly the same thing, then why does the "g" template even exist? Dolphins_are_awesome (and Vulpix are too)! 01:07, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
{{pkmn}}
hides the "Pokémon".{{g}}
shows the "Pokémon". And people are very, very lazy with it. Personally, I would like to see all uses of it fazed out. It is not hard to write "Pokémon", guys! — THE TROM — 01:27, 6 May 2009 (UTC)- Umm, no, but it... saves coding. Like, a lot of coding. Excuse me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that's what link templates are all about - that that's the reason we were always incouraged to use them all the time. --electAbuzzzz 13:39, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, but it's deemed as laziness template because it's not hard to type [[Pokémon Trainer]], but it's a waste of time to type [[Pokémon Trainer|Trainer]]. Also, the "g" stands for "game" before, but is now widely used as "anything with Pokémon in its name". It's been approved by admins to delink everything that links to G template. ◄Kevzo8► 13:51, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
- An additional piece of reasoning is that it makes it easier for new users to get their head around things.
{{p}}
,{{a}}
and{{m}}
are straight forward, but this one's just plain confusing to half of 'em. While link templates remain encouraged, use them only for their intended use. — THE TROM — 20:10, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Okay, after reading this, I'm still confused. I understand that the "g" template was meant to be used with games, but what harm is there in using it differently? Sure, it's "lazy", but it also saves space. While I see an advantage in the latter, I don't understand what's wrong with being "lazy". And if everything that links to the "g" template is delinked, what's the point anyway? --Socob 17:25, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
There should be a shortlink to trainer classes
I would make it, but then I couldn't add it here. Dolphins_are_awesome (and Vulpix are too)! 23:37, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- Use
{{OBP}}
. It links to things that are disambiguated and not covered by other link templates. Example here. — THE TROM — 23:45, 5 May 2009 (UTC)- Actually, I think that a Trainer class thing would be good, if we move all Trainer classes to a parenthetical (why haven't we, anyway? Double Team proves we need it). TTEchidna 19:14, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- People have been edit/move warring over this for months TTE. Surprised you never noticed. It would certainly follow all of the disambiguation conventions we have here. —darklordtrom 22:41, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Regular talk pages
Where is the link template for regular talk pages? --CUBONE PWNS (Planet Cubone • Bone Club) 17:17, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
- There isn't one, due to lack of demand in linking to talk pages. Obviously you're trying to code a signature, so just link it regularly. You'll probably save more room in coding by doing so. —darklordtrom 20:21, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
Wikitonary
Shouldn't there be a link template for Wikitonary (or whatever-it's-called?) It would help a lot. ♣♣ Ƒǿҫὑṩ ❺❽ ♣♣ 17:58, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
