Trivia
- Despite being based on a bronze bell, Bronzong doesn't learn any sound-based moves (with the exception of Snore in Platinum). It should be noted, however, that dōtaku are purely ritualistic and are not made to function as bells.
- Bronzong is one of the few Template:Type2 Pokémon whose Attack stat is higher than its Special Attack stat. The others are Meditite and Medicham, Beldum and its evolutions, and Gallade. However, in Meditite and Medicham's case, their Attack stat is only higher due to Template:A2.
- Bronzong and its Template:P2 are the only Pokémon with the ability Levitate that can have another ability, Heatproof. In Platinum Version they semi-share this trait with Giratina, who can freely alternate between the abilities Levitate and Pressure when it changes between its Altered Forme and Origin Forme, excluding when on Wi-Fi.
- Despite being blue, it is listed in the green category. This also applies to its Template:P2.
Origin
Bronzong is based on a dōtaku.
Name origin
Its English name is a combination of "bronze" and either "gong," as in a Gong made of Bronze, or "dong," as in the sound of a bell. Its Japanese name is a portmanteau of the words 銅鐸 dōtaku, meaning bronze bell, and どんどん dondon, the sound a bell produces.
In other languages
- German: Bronzong
- French: Archeodong - From archeo- (Latin for "ancient") and dong.
- Korean: 동탁군 Dongtakgun
