When Red confronts Green over the fake items, she feigns an apology and says the only reason that she tricked him was so she could see him again. Grabbing him in a hug, she begs him to forgive her, before pushing him violently away and attacking with Blasty's Bubble attack. Red is ready for this, and leaps onto Snor, bragging that she can't outsmart a Trainer with two Badges before commanding his Pokémon to use a Mega Punch, which levels the pavement and knocks out Green and Blasty.

Dr. O has Spearow activate Mirror Move, creating a deflective shield the returns the attack on Blasty and heavily damaging him. As a last-ditch attack, Blasty attacks with Water Gun, but the attack is returned by Mirror Move, defeating Blasty.

As Green took more of a secret agent-type approach to battling the Elite Four during this arc, she and Blasty do not appear until relatively late into the arc compared to most main characters save Red. He was first shown subduing Bill's Vulpix when Green used Ditty as a key to break in again (breaking the promise she made to Professor Oak) and tried to break into the Pokémon Box system to check on the then-missing Red's exploits since he disappeared. However, this would quickly be interrupted (though Green at least found out he hadn't died) when Bruno's mind-controlled Hitmonlee came busting in, forcing Green to retreat with Blasty's water flight maneuver. This wouldn't last long, though, as it eventually ran out of water to blast itself with, and had to forcibly defeat the fighting Pokémon. When Green arrived in Cerise Island, and feigned getting stuck on Lorelei's ice cuffs, Blasty shot water out from its cannons again, but was not seen fighting.
In Breath of the Dragonair Part 1, Blasty battles against Bruno's Hitmonlee after a failed attempt to flee. Due to being separated from Green she attempts to convey a command through a distant-commanding device that traps a command inside a bubble. The command-bubble almost reaches Blasty, but is popped by Hitmonlee. Hitmonlee then uses its stretching body to wrap up Blasty. While wrapped up Blasty uses Bubble to hide the next command-bubble. The command reaches Blasty, telling him to punches the foe with his cannons, which knocks Hitmonlee out.

In the FRLG arc, Blasty inherited the ultimate water attack, Hydro Cannon, directly from Kimberly, without having to clear the Jump Path, Catch Path, and Battle Path to master the skills. With this new power, and the support of its newly evolved teammates, it was able to help free Mewtwo's M2 Bind and later tried to stop the Team Rocket Airship from falling using Hydro Pump with Blue's Rhydon and Golduck and Silver's Feraligatr and Kingdra. It was Mew that ultimately cushioned the fall, however, and before seeing much more action Blasty was petrified with the five Pokédex Holders and almost all their Pokémon.
In It Takes Patience, Knowledge and a Really Quick Beedrill, Blasty begins training to learn the ultimate water attack, Hydro Cannon, and does so even without clearing the Jump Path, Catch Path, and Battle Path. After learning it the group heads to the Trainer Tower. After a series of events Blasty is used to help free Mewtwo's M2 Bind, and gets help from his newly evolved teammates. However, the group soon found themselves petrified by Sird with the four other Pokédex Holders and their Pokémon.

After being unpetrified, though, it was able to put its Hydro Cannon ability to good use by destroying Guile Hideout's giant sea Kyogre, though it is worth noting that unlike the previous uses of the technique, it only utilized the cannons on its back to fire the move (just like when it uses Hydro Pump), rather than using its mouth as well.
In The Final Battle VIII, Blasty becomes unpetrified and regained mobility, upon which Blasty, Silver's Feraligatr, and Mumu attack with Hydro Cannon to help destroy Guile Hideout's fake Kyogre.

This Pokémon spent an unknown number of chapters as Squirtle and between 2 and 16 chapters as Wartortle.

Blasty (Japanese: カメちゃん Kame-chan) is one of the Pokémon owned by Green in the Pokémon Adventures manga.

History

Red, Green & Blue arc

Blasty as a Squirtle being stolen

Green initially stole Blasty as a Squirtle from Professor Oak's Lab. However, he had already evolved into a Wartortle by the time he debuted in Wartortle Wars, being used to try to Surf away from Red after conning him, only to be stopped by Red's Snor.

In Tauros the Tyrant, Blue stole a disk from Team Rocket and was hunted down by them. They demand she give it back, and she reacts by coolly tossing the disc into Blasty's mouth, and warning Team Rocket that if they attack, the disc will be damaged. Team Rocket attack with Machoke and Hitmonlee, but in their attempts to protect the disc whilst also taking down Blasty, the two Pokémon end up injuring each other, much to Green's delight. The highest-ranking member of Team Rocket present loses his patience and calls out his Tauros, a Pokémon that he warns Green was the leader of his herd, King of the Safari Zone, and with the power to control other Pokémon by whipping his three tails. The Tauros commands all of Team Rocket's Pokémon at once, quickly neutralizing Blasty and recovering the disc.

As a Wartortle

In Zap! Zap! Zapdos!, Blasty was revealed to have evolved into Blastoise. He was first seen battling against Sabrina's Kadabra. Sabrina's Kadabra was able to outmaneuver Blasty with Teleport before knocking him down with Psychic. Sabrina then has Kadabra hold Blasty in a Disable before delivering a blow that shatters his shell. However, Green promptly sends out another Poké Ball, surprising Sabrina when its contents are revealed to be the real Blasty, who strikes Kadabra down with a Mega Punch; the other Blasty revealing itself as Ditty. After this Blasty is used alongside Saur and Blue's Charizard to help defeat Thu-Fi-Zer.

In Just a Spearow Carrier, Blasty is used as Greens second choice in her battle against Dr. O in the Pokémon League. Much to everyone's amazement Green has Blasty withdraw its forelimbs, letting her ride on its lower legs as it uses Hydro Pump to propel them into the air for an aerial attack, turning the tables on Dr. O. Dr. O has Spearow activate Mirror Move, creating a deflective shield the returns the attack on Blasty and heavily damaging him. As a last-ditch attack, Blasty attacks with Water Gun, but the attack is returned by Mirror Move, defeating Blasty.

Yellow arc

Gold, Silver & Crystal arc

In The Last Battle IX, it was revealed that Green lent Blasty to Red to assist him on his journey on Mt. Silver, as she alluded she wouldn't need him for aerial transport (now that she had captured the legendary birds).

In The Last Battle XIV, Blasty is used in the final battle against the Masked Man.

FireRed & LeafGreen arc

In It Takes Patience, Knowledge and a Really Quick Beedrill, Blasty begins training to learn the ultimate water attack, Hydro Cannon, and does so even without clearing the Jump Path, Catch Path, and Battle Path. After learning it the group heads to the Trainer Tower. After a series of events Blasty is used to help free Mewtwo's M2 Bind, and gets help from his newly evolved teammates. However, the group soon found themselves petrified by Sird with the four other Pokédex Holders and their Pokémon.

Emerald arc

In The Final Battle VIII, Blasty becomes unpetrified and regained mobility, upon which Blasty, Silver's Feraligatr, and Mumu attack with Hydro Cannon to help destroy Guile Hideout's fake Kyogre.

Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arc

In PAORAS11, Blasty is revealed to have gained the ability to Mega Evolve into Mega Blastoise. He is used alongside a Mega Evolved Saur to battle Archie and Maxie.

Personality and characteristics

Green and her Blasty

Just like Green, Blasty too has a tricky personality. After Wartortle's evolution into a Blastoise, he became one of the major powerhouses on Green's team. He also became capable of aerial transport by withdrawing his limbs into his shell and blasting water out from his cannons to propel himself forward.
