Miscellaneous

  • This set was a combination of Jungle and Base Set. Wizards of the Coast usually performs these sorts of reprintings with their card games, and the Pokémon TCG was of no exception. At the time this proved to be an unpopular decision between fans and players, however Legendary Collection would later repair this.
  • The combination of both Base and Jungle would produce 166 crads, so some (mostly the unpopular) cards were taken out.
  • Cards Gone From Base Set:' Koffing, Porygon, Ponyta, Revive, Devolution Spray, Clefairy Doll, PokéFlute
  • Cards Gone From Jungle:' Oddish, Gloom, Vileplume, Eevee, Vaporeon, Flareon, Jolteon, Mankey, Primeape, Rapidash
  • This set was never released in Japan.
  • The "starry" holographic design used in the American sets was rejected in favour of the "cosmo" design used in the Japanese sets, as it was of better quality and more attractive. The design has remained in use since.
