Bagon (Japanese: タツベイ Tatsubay) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.

It evolves into Shelgon starting at level 30, who evolves into Salamence starting at level 50.

Biology

Physiology

Bagon are small, blue, reptilian Pokémon vaguely resembling Pachycephalosaurus. They are bipedal and lack tails. Their heads are as hard as steel, and possess a large, round snout and triangular eyes. The head also sports a crest-like formation of three thick gray ridges that continue as a slope down their back, iguana-like, yellow-colored circular reptilian ears, a yellow jaw and teeth protruding from the mouth. Bagon have stubby arms, a triangular patch of yellow on their underside, and legs which have two toes.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Its steel-hard head can shatter boulders.

Behavior

Bagon harbors a never-ending dream of one day soaring high among the clouds. As if trying to dispel its frustration over its inability to fly, this Pokémon slams its hard head against huge rocks and shatters them into pebbles. They also hurl themselves off of cliffs in vain attempts to fly.

Trivia

Origin

Bagon is based on a dragon, but possibly draws some aspects from pachycephalosaurus, a species of two-legged dinosaurs known for their domed heads.

Name origin

Bagon's name is possibly a combination of baby and dragon. Its Japanese name is a combination of 竜 tatsu, dragon, and possibly English baby.
