  • This is the first time since early in the original series that Ash has caught three Pokémon in three consecutive episodes.
  • This is one of the very few times that Ash, or any main character, uses the Pokedex manually to find a Pokemon's information, rather than scanning it in the flesh. In this case, Ash looks up Umbreon after mistaking a blackened-up Pokabu for it on a monitor.
