Aspertia City (Japanese: ヒオウギシティ Hiougi City) is a small city situated in southwestern Unova and serves as the hometown of the main protagonists in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2. The settlement exists on Unova's western strip of land, and is surrounded by forest. The entrance to the city is through Route 19 to its north.

The Aspertia Gym is the official Gym of Aspertia City and the first Gym a player must face in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2. It is based on Normal-type Pokémon. The Gym Leader is Cheren. Trainers who defeat him receive the Basic Badge and the TM83 (Work Up). The Gym is situated just west of the Pokémon Center in the backyard of the Trainers' School.

Aspertia City in anime

Aspertia City was first mentioned by Professor Juniper in New Places... Familiar Faces! when she advised Ash to challenge the new Gym Leader, Cheren, while on their way to the White Ruins.

Aspertia City first appeared in There's a New Gym Leader in Town! when the gang arrived for Ash and Cheren's battle.

Trivia

  • Aspertia's Japanese motto is さらなる 発展を 意味する 街 "The town signifying further development".
  • Aspertia City is the only hometown in the core series games to be a city, and as such is much larger than other hometowns and has a higher population. It is also the first hometown in a core series game to contain:
    • Concrete paths
    • A Pokémon Gym
    • A Pokémon Center
      • As Aspertia City is the only hometown to house a Pokémon Center, it also is the only city in the core series games where the Pokémon Center is not the flying destination, as this trait is given to the player's house.
  • Aspertia City and Nuvema Town are the only hometowns that share a region.
