Biology
Biology
Armaldo is a fossilized, prehistoric Pokémon no longer found in the wild, and must be evolved from an Anorith resurrected from a Claw Fossil.
Armaldo is a bipedal, amphibious Pokémon that somewhat resembles a mantis shrimp. It is covered with thick, grayish-blue plates. There are accents of yellow, black, white, and red throughout its body. Its oblong eyes protrude from the sides of its head. A black pattern with two red, teardrop-shaped spots covered the center of its head and a yellow lower jaw. Three pairs of wing-like appendages extend from the sides of its long, thick neck. A plate of armor on its back has four short spikes and two triangular, yellow-rimmed wings extending from underneath. Its scaled chest and belly are rimmed with yellow lines as well, and there are two large yellow plates in the center of its chest. Its segmented arms extend from holes in these plates, each with a large, black claw. The legs are also segmented, with black knees. A pair of black fins tips its long tail.
Physiology
Armaldo is a bipedal, amphibious Pokémon, somewhat resembling a mantis shrimp and covered with thick, heavy-duty plates.

It is mainly colored blue, with accents of yellow, black, white and red. Additionally, Armaldo’s eyes, like its pre-evolution, extend from the sides of its head. Hower, they are not beady and instead oblong in shape. Armaldo also retains the black pattern on its head present in its pre-evolution. Armaldo has a long neck, with the lobes that were present on the sides of Anorith’s body there, although there are now three pairs instead of four. Armaldo has a yellow lower jaw, and a continuation of the yellow coloration on the rims of the armor on its underside. The yellow patterning encircles the holes on the armor of the underside out of which Armaldo’s blue-and-black-tipped, segmented blade-like arms extend. The yellow rim on the shell underside culminates on Armaldo’s lower belly, although there is also yellow rimming on the fin-like, triangular "wings" on Armaldo’s sides. Armaldo’s legs are thick, with black-colored knees and two toes. Armaldo’s long tail is similar to that of Lugia’s in shape, although blue with black fins.
In ancient times, Armaldo lived on List of Pokémon by habitat and dived into the ocean to hunt for prey. The large wings on its back were used for swimming, while its thick shell protected it from enemy attacks. Its strong claws can break stones, punch through a steel slab, and take down prey. Furthermore, they can be freely extended or retracted. It is considered to be the ancestor of some bug Pokémon.

Gender differences
Evolution
None.
Armaldo evolves from Anorith.

Special abilities
(For specifics on this Pokémon's evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)
Armaldo's claws have the power to punch through a steel slab. Armaldo's claws can also be freely extended or contracted, Armaldo is encased in a sturdy body, so attacks will only bounce off harmlessly. Armaldo has access to a variety of claw-based moves such as X-Scissor, Aerial Ace, Slash etc. Since Armaldo is fully evolved, it is capable of learning powerful moves such as Hyper Beam and Giga Impact.

* Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky: An Armaldo serves a mentor to the future Guildmaster Wigglytuff while he was still an Igglybuff. Initially reluctant due to Igglybuff's devil-may-care attitude, he takes him on as an apprentice after sensing a powerful intuition from the baby Pokémon, and eventually grows close to the young child. He tends to lampshade many RPG staples, such as traps and bosses, but is just as easily fooled by them. Armaldo is in fact an outlaw, and is caught after clearing the Fortune Ravine. Igglybuff protests wildly, and is about to unleash a powerful Hyper Voice (the first show of his infamous temper), until Armaldo calms him down and explains the situation; he gives the still-protesting Igglybuff a Defend Globe (the first treasure they pair found on their first adventure) as a gift to remember him by, and willingly gives himself up to the authorities. This story serves as the backdrop for the second special episode, Igglybuff the Prodigy.

Name origin
Name origin
Armaldo's name possibly originated from a corruption of armor; however, it could also be a combination of armor and armadillo.
Armaldo may be a combination of armado (Spanish for armored), Anomalocaris, and possibly shield or ald (Old Saxon for old).

Armaldo (Japanese: アーマルド Armaldo) is a dual-type Rock/Bug Fossil Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves from Anorith starting at level 40, after it is revived from a Claw Fossil.

Biology

In ancient times, Armaldo lived on land by the water's edge, and dived into the ocean to hunt for prey. The large wings on its back were used for swimming, while its thick shell protected it from enemy attacks. Its strong claws can break stones, punch through a steel slab, and take down prey. Furthermore, they can be freely extended or retracted. It is considered to be the ancestor of some Bug-type Pokémon.

Evolution

Armaldo evolves from Anorith.

Spoiler warning: this article may contain major plot or ending details.
201
 • Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky: An Armaldo serves a mentor to the future Guildmaster Wigglytuff while he was still an Igglybuff. Initially reluctant due to Igglybuff's devil-may-care attitude, he takes him on as an apprentice after sensing a powerful intuition from the baby Pokémon and eventually grows close to the young child. He tends to acknowledge many RPG staples, such as traps and bosses but is just as easily fooled by them. Eventually, it is revealed that Armaldo is an outlaw and is caught after clearing the Fortune Ravine. Igglybuff protests wildly and is about to unleash a powerful Hyper Voice (the first show of his infamous temper), until Armaldo calms him down and explains the situation; he gives the still-protesting Igglybuff a Defend Globe (the first treasure the pair found on their first adventure) as a gift to remember him by, and Armaldo willingly gives himself up to the authorities. This story serves as the backdrop for the second Special Episode, Igglybuff the Prodigy.
 • He later reappears in Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, where another Igglybuff requests the player to deliver a Tiny Reviver Seed to Armaldo. Upon delivery, Armaldo muses about another Igglybuff he knew that had become a respected guildmaster.
