Victory Road (second visit)

1F

Fly to the Pokémon League's upper half and enter Victory Road from there. Then with Rock Climb descend down and head for the nearby stairs you saw earlier. Now that the Elite Four has been handled then the door in the eastern side of this area is no longer blocked off. Besides needing Rock Climb, Surf and Waterfall to reach here, you will also need Strength and Defog to progress through successfully. You will need a good diverse team for this area as the trainers use different types which can be troublesome unless if you are prepared.

BF1 (deep area)

When you arrive use Defog to remove the fog and you'll meet a girl named Marley who will tag along with you as a tag battle partner.

As your tag battle partner heals your team after each battle it is a good idea to find all the trainers in the cave while Marley is with you and engage them in Double Battles to make it easier. However this area is a maze and as long as Marley is with you, you cannot use Surf as a means of creating a shortcut to make it easier. From where you meet up use Strength on the nearby boulder and go up. Continue traveling north and carefully moving boulders out of the way while defeating trainers. The items in the northwestern part of the room require two separate trips due to the puzzle of moving the boulder to get to those items.

Now travel east and continue moving boulders and facing trainers in Double Battles. Once you reach the end of the path travel south and follow th path east and once you get past two more trainers, you find the exit and Marley will leave you. Next use Surf to get to the items that were inaccessible before. Also the two trainers, Ace Trainer Arthur and Ace Trainer Clarence which you can only access after Marley has left are located in the southeastern area of the room. Unless if you have a well diverse team to deal with their Pokémon then do not engage them. Now follow the path to the exit to reach Route 224.

Route 224

If you need to return to the Pokémon League at any time to heal your team, the good news is that you won't need Strength to be able to navigate through that part of Victory Road again as Surf alone will make it easy to come and go from Route 224.

The trainers on this route much like the ones you just dealt with on Victory Road are diverse and can be tricky unless if you are prepared. There are also some maze based areas around this route that require a little navigation. You will need Surf to deal with getting to the berry patch found on this route and for collecting some of the items. Other than that, this should be a straightforward route.

Snowpoint City

Fly to Snowpoint City and talk to the sailor to board the ship to the Battle Zone. You can also visit the Snowpoint Temple if you want but we'll save that for later.

Before you go Cynthia will appear and give you a pep talk about how people must work together to help change the world so no one ends up like Cyrus and that she wants you to go the Battle Zone to learn and grow. Now you will automatically head to the first area of the Battle Zone, the Fight Area.

Fight Area

Fight Area

When you arrive Barry will be there and drag you to the front of the Battle Frontier. It turns out that Flint and Volkner are preventing him from entering, believing he may not be strong enough. Once you accept Barry's offer for a tag battle, the two of you will automatically engage the two in a double battle. You can still reject the offer if you need to prepare your team.

Do not underestimate Flint and Volkner's team as they can be deadly if you get careless. They have Houndoom, Luxray, the two Eeveelutions Flareon and Jolteon, and their star Pokémon Magmortar and Electivire. A Rock/Ground combo like Golem can help but their team can cover their weaknesses, so a good diversity including these two types and the Water or Grass-type. As long as you carefully plan out your team and also work together with Barry's team then you'll be fine if you are at the right levels.

After the two leave, you'll meet Barry's father Palmer, one of the Frontier Brains who is the Tower Tycoon. He'll explain how each facility has it's own rules before leaving. Barry explains that his father is the reason he decided to become a trainer before leaving to train. You'll then meet a boy named Buck who was impressed with watching your battle and mentions he usually trains at the Survival Area or Stark Mountain before leaving. Go near the north exit to talk to a fisherman to get the Super Rod which is the best fishing rod in the game and will help you with catching some of non-regional Water-type Pokémon.

Now use that nearby exit to reach Route 225. Also at this point thanks to your trip to the Battle Zone and Fullmoon Island you can now explore the Underground at any of its areas as long as you enter from the right area. Additionally you can now collect the fossils for the Generation I and Generation III fossil Pokémon. Like the Generation IV fossils they need to be taken to the Oreburgh Museum in Oreburgh City to revive them.
