The main new change is that Barry's Munchlax has evolved into a Snorlax, which should help make it so Snorlax is counted as seen in the Sinnoh Dex that will contribute to getting the National Pokédex. Snorlax can be easily brought down by a powerful Fighting attack such as Cross Chop or Close Combat. Other than that the same weaknesses as before can be used to defeat the other members of his team. Afterwards Barry will leave convinced he is not ready yet if he keeps losing like this, but vows to be the one to defeat you.

For dealing with Aaron's team, his Yanmega can heighten its evasiveness with Double Team and can raise's it's speed through its special ability, Speed Boost. Take it down before it becomes a problem. Aerial Ace can help if it gets too hectic. Both Heracross and Vespiquen can counter Flyings, but a powerful Flying-type move can easily bring them down. For Scizor, a Fire would be best. Flint will thank you for helping Volkner earlier and then face you in a battle. Be careful when his Pokémon use Sunny Day as it can raise their Fire-type moves and weaken the power of Water-type moves. His first Pokémon Houndoom should be taken down as quick as possible to help give you an early lead before Sunny Day is used. Flareon should not be much of a problem thought be careful with Overheat since it is very powerful when first used, though continued use will weaken it. Also if it used Will-O-Wisp it can weaken your Pokémon's physical moves and cause minor damage each turn unless if it is treated. Rapidash's speed can be a hassle and don't let it use SolarBeam especially if Sunny Day is in effect. It could also paralyze your Pokémon with Bounce.

Infernape is strong and can counter Water and Flying-types. Unless if you have one with a good enough move from it's type, then use Ground-types. His strongest Pokémon Magmortar has a pretty strong moveset to counter it's weaknesses but is slow so a faster Pokémon with a strong Water, Rock or Ground-type moves could easily take it out.

For this battle, a Pokémon like Scizor would really be useful. When dealing with Mr. Mime, it can use barrier moves like Reflect or Light Screen to halve out the power of your moves. Espeon can counter Darks with Signal Beam and Alakazam can counter Steel-types with Focus Blast and their high Speed and Sp. While it can use Psychic to counter Infernape or Earthquake to counter other Fire-types, it's slow speed makes it easy to be brought down by a powerful Fire-type Sp. Attack.

Spiritomb or Sableye will be completely immune to Psychic, Psycho Cut, Quick Attack, Focus Blast, and Drain Punch, and no other moves will be super effective, making them decent options as well when only half of Lucian's damaging moves can connect. Sableye is not available until the Sinnoh Pokédex is complete (or obtained in a trade), but Spiritomb is available quite early, so long as you can talk to other player(s) in The Underground 32 times.

Cynthia will thank you for your help on Mt. Coronet and in the Distortion World earlier before facing you. Cynthia does not follow a specific type so this battle will be trouble if your Pokémon's levels are not high enough. Spiritomb has no direct weaknesses, though a Steel-type can be quite effective. Scizor will have an easy time handling it since X-Scissor would be a smart choice to use, especially if it knows Swords Dance. Roserade shouldn't be that much of a hassle if you get it down quick with Fire or Flying types. It would be recommended to use an Electric against Milotic since it has Ice Beam to counter Grass-types. Using a physical Electric-type move like Thunder Fang or ThunderPunch should be effective given its weaker defense stat and that it can't counter the damage of those moves with Mirror Coat.

Use Fire, Ground, or Fighting-type moves to bring down Lucario. Be careful of it's speed and ability to use Stone Edge. Togekiss can also be brought down by an Electric-type but be careful of its higher defenses despite it's slow speed. Garchomp can be a serious problem given its high attack and speed. Make sure to place a status condition if you can like Paralysis since it will be a big help. It may have a 4x weakness to Ice-types, but it is capable of countering it's weaknesses, so you may have to use a Water-type with an Ice-type move. If you can get it to use Giga Impact, then exploit the free turn while you have the chance since the situation will get worse the longer this match drags on.

Victory Road

With your team ready, make sure you include Pokémon that have the HM moves Surf, Strength, Rock Smash, Waterfall, and Rock Climb, since you will need them to help with navigating through this area. Don't forget to challenge every trainer you see since only a few Pokémon cannot be spotted anywhere else such as Torterra (If Chimchar was your starter) or Empoleon (If Turtwig was your starter).

1F

Use the first Rock Climb ledge to reach TM41 (Torment), then climb back up and travel further down to find another Rock Climb ledge. Use it and follow the path until you reach the western wall of the chamber. Before you go upstairs, follow the path straight ahead. Press the rock to find a hidden nugget. Use the stairs to reach 2F.

2F

Using Strength and Rock Smash, carefully move the boulder and maneuver your bike carefully in fourth gear (faster speed) to jump over the bike ledge. Then switch to third gear (slower speed) and jump over the bike ledge to find a Max Elixir. Now travel to the southern part of the room while smashing rocks and moving boulders (make sure to move those boulders very carefully to be able to progress successfully).

Use the nearby stairs to return to 1F, then quickly head back to 2F. You can now move the nearby boulder in a new direction that will allow you to access a hidden area. By going through the smashing rocks/movable boulders/bike ledges in this area you can find some more items including TM71 (Stone Edge). Now return to those stairs you just used to get back to 1F.

1F

Use the nearby Rock Climb ledge and carefully follow the path to reach the stairs for BF1.

BF1

Using Surf head to the nearby trainer and then from the pool on the right, follow the path in the southern area to briefly return to 1F to find a Rare Candy. Now head for the north area and use Waterfall to climb the waterfall. Then head for the next waterfall and descend down it find TM59 (Dragon Pulse) before climbing back up.

Once back up follow the path to the west to find some stairs to return to 1F.

1F

From the stairs follow the path until you see the path leading down and head in that direction. Now head left to another Rock Climb ledge and from their you can briefly return to 2F to find TM79 (Dark Pulse). If you go up the stairs near the old man, the path leads to a blocked-off doorway that is inaccessible until after you've defeated the Elite Four.

Near the stairs to the left is a path that leads to the Razor Claw which evolves Sneasel into Weavile. The Rock Climb ledge that is on the right hand cliff near the one you used earlier will lead you out of Victory Road and into the Pokémon League.

Pokémon League

Ground floor

Before your challenge, use the Dowsing Machine app on your Pokétch near the base of the waterfall to find the Sky Plate. Now, use Surf and Waterfall to enter the building. Before going to the receptionist make sure to have a very good well-balanced team. Also make sure that all the members of your team are trained around Levels 54-58 to be able to stand a chance of succeeding. Also stock up on Hyper or Max Potions, Full Heals, Revives, and Full Restores. Just before you get to the receptionist in front of the door leading to the Elite Four, Barry will appear and challenge you to determine who among the two of you is more worthy.

The main new change is that Barry's Munchlax has evolved into a Snorlax, which should help make it so Snorlax is counted as seen in the Sinnoh Dex that will contribute to getting the National Pokédex. Snorlax can be easily brought down by a powerful Fighting-type attack such as Cross Chop or Close Combat. Other than that the same weaknesses as before can be used to defeat the other members of his team. Afterwards Barry will leave convinced he is not ready yet if he keeps losing like this, but vows to be the one to defeat you.

Talk to the Ace Trainer and once he confirms you have the eight Sinnoh Badges you can then face the Elite Four, but just remember there is no turning back once you pass through the doorway.

Elite Four

Aaron

Aaron's room

For dealing with Aaron's team, his Yanmega can heighten its evasiveness with Double Team and can raise's it's speed through its special ability, Speed Boost. Take it down before it becomes a problem. Aerial Ace can help if it gets too hectic. Both Heracross and Vespiquen can counter Flying-types, but a powerful Flying-type move can easily bring them down. For Scizor, a Fire-type would be best. For his strongest Pokémon which is Drapion, unless if you use a Ground-type which is what it is weakest against (though it does have Ice Fang to counter Ground-types) then use a Steel-type like Scizor or Steelix which are resistant to its moveset.

Bertha

Bertha's room

For dealing with Bertha's team if you have a Grass or Water-type that is quick then you should have an easy time. Whiscash has a 4x weakness to Grass-types, Golem, Rhyperior have a 4x weakness to Grass and Water-types and Gliscor has a 4x weakness to Ice-types. Exploit these weaknesses or use Pokémon that have useful moves from those types such as Ice Beam or Surf. Her Hippowdon which is the only single type should not be much of a problem. While Gliscor, Golem, and Rhyperior may have a lot of moves that can counter several of their weaknesses, but if you exploit the weak Speed and Sp. Defense stats of Bertha's team then she won't be much of a problem.

Flint

Flint's room

Flint will thank you for helping Volkner earlier and then face you in a battle. Be careful when his Pokémon use Sunny Day as it can raise their Fire-type moves and weaken the power of Water-type moves. His first Pokémon Houndoom should be taken down as quick as possible to help give you an early lead before Sunny Day is used. Flareon should not be much of a problem though be careful with Overheat since it is very powerful when first used, though continued use will weaken it. Also if it used Will-O-Wisp it can weaken your Pokémon's physical moves by half and cause minor damage each turn unless if it is treated. Rapidash's speed can be a hassle and don't let it use SolarBeam, especially if Sunny Day is in effect. It could also paralyze your Pokémon with Bounce.

Infernape is strong and can counter Water and Flying-types. Unless if you have one from those two types with a good enough move, use Ground-types instead. His strongest Pokémon Magmortar has a pretty strong moveset to counter it's weaknesses, but it is slow, so a faster Pokémon with a strong Water, Rock, or Ground-type move could easily take it out.

Lucian

Lucian's room

For this battle, a Pokémon like Scizor would really be useful. When dealing with Mr. Mime, it can use barrier moves like Reflect or Light Screen to halve out the power of your moves. Espeon can counter Dark-types with Signal Beam and Alakazam can counter Steel-types with Focus Blast and their high Speed and Sp. Attack is a hassle so take them down with a move like X-Scissor or Night Slash at once. Bronzong has high Defenses and only Fire-types can easily beat it. While it can use Psychic to counter Infernape or Earthquake to counter other Fire-types, it's slow speed makes it easy to be brought down by a powerful Fire-type Sp. Attack.

With Gallade only Flying or Ghost-type moves can beat it. Be careful when using Flying-types as it can counter them with Stone Edge. A powerful Pokémon like Staraptor can easily beat it with Brave Bird.

Pokémon Champion Cynthia

Cynthia's room

Cynthia will thank you for your help on Mt. Coronet and in the Distortion World earlier before facing you. Cynthia does not follow a specific type so this battle will be trouble if your Pokémon's levels are not high enough. Spiritomb has no direct weaknesses, though a Steel-type can be quite effective. Scizor will have an easy time handling it since X-Scissor would be a smart choice to use, especially if it knows Swords Dance. Roserade shouldn't be that much of a hassle if you get it down quick with Fire or Flying types, but it has Extrasensory to counter Infernape. It would be recommended to use an Electric-type against Milotic since it has Ice Beam to counter Grass-types. Using a physical Electric-type move like Thunder Fang or ThunderPunch should be effective given its weaker defense stat and that it can't counter the damage of those moves with Mirror Coat.

Use Fire, Ground, or Fighting-type moves to bring down Lucario. Be careful of its speed and ability to use Stone Edge.

After the battle Cynthia will praise you on the conviction you have with your Pokémon to become Champion. She'll then take you to the Hall of Fame where Professor Rowan will join you and all the Pokémon on your team are recorded into the Hall of Fame.
