Mauville City
Mauville City
After defeating Wattson, head to the building east of the Poké Mart to find a man who will give you 06. Since the Dynamo has been acquired, Rock Smash can be used outside of battle.

Anyway, head west to 117.
Mauville City is located in central Hoenn, situated between Routes 110, 111, 117, and 118. Tourist hotspots include the Mauville Gym, Game Corner, and Rydel's Cycles.

Route 117
Not much to do here but keep heading west to Verdanturf Town, though there is a Pokémon Day Care located on this route for raising and breeding Pokémon, as well as the usual stuff found on routes— Pokémon Trainers, items, and Wild Pokémon.

You can find Oddish and Volbeat here, if you decide to catch them. Oddish has already learned Sweet Scent move, which causes wild Pokémon to appear, provided you're standing in an area where wild Pokémon would normally appear. Volbeat is useful for a trade in Fortree City.

Rydel's Cycles
|-
Rydel's Cycles is located near the city's east exit. Spotting your dirty Running Shoes, the shop owner, Rydel, realizes that you've done a lot of traveling. He offers you a free bicycle, and gives you the choice between two models. The III is faster and is able to ride up Bike obstacles, which is useful for exploring places like Granite Cave. The III is slower which allows for more precise control and the ability to perform Bicycle. After choosing a bike, you can speak to Rydel at any time to swap it for the other model.

Game Corner
The Game Corner features sixteen slot machines, four of which are in use by other patrons, and two roulette tables. A III is needed to participate. Coins may be purchased from the woman at the left side of the service desk, available at 50 for pdollar1,000 and 500 for pdollar10,000.

Prizes
Collect enough coins and they can be exchanged for valuable prizes. To do so, speak to either of the two women at the right side of the service desk.

Verdanturf Town
The main attraction here is the Battle Tent, which can be used to test your skills. Other areas of interest include Wally's Aunt and Uncle's house, and a friendship rater.  Also, inside the Pokémon Center there is a kid who will teach a compatible Pokémon Fury Cutter one time only.

Battle Tent
After being defeated, he decides to return to Verdanturf Town. As they turn to leave, his uncle recognizes you as the Trainer who helped Wally catch his Ralts, and invites you to visit them in Verdanturf.

Scott arrives after they leave. He was watching the match, and was impressed that you didn't hold anything back, even when battling a friend. He lets you know that he'll be cheering for you, and heads west to 117.

Move Tutor
Another Move Tutor can be found outside the Gym. This man offers to teach the move Rollout to a Pokémon, one time only.

The Mauville Gym specializes in Electric Pokémon. While Pokémon of this type are only vulnerable to Ground attacks, the other Pokémon inside make Fire and Fighting moves useful as well. Keep your Water- and Flying Pokémon on the sidelines for now. The Gym features several electrical barriers, which can be turned on and off by stepping on thunderbolt-shaped switches. To reach the Gym Leader, simply step on the southwest switch.

road
|}
This Battle Tent is very different from the Slateport Battle Tent. Scott will be here. You use three of your own Pokémon (not rentals) and you battle against a Trainer whose Pokémon are all the same level as your highest-level Pokémon, though the Trainer's Pokémon will not be below Lv. 30. You do not control your Pokémon here. Instead, the Pokémon will use their moves according to their Nature, or they will not do anything at all. If you win three battles in a row, you will receive a Nest.
Also, if you speak to the lady in the top left, she'll give you 45.

Friendship rater
Wattson leads with his Voltorb. Though its Attack is low, if left unchecked its Rollout move—a Rock attack—increases in power and can pose a danger to Fire Pokémon like Combusken. His Electrike is not much of a threat, but it can strike first with Quick Attack. Pokémon that use contact moves against Electrike also risk becoming paralyzed due to its Static Ability. Magneton likes to start with Supersonic to confuse its foe. Its Special Attack is dangerously high, which allows it to deal serious damage with the unavoidable Shock Wave move; fortunately, it also sustains quadruple damage from Ground moves. His Manectric can use Howl to raise its Attack, which boosts the damage dealt by Quick Attack. It can also actively paralyze the foe with Thunder Wave, and like Electrike, has the Static Ability.
In the house situated to the left of Wanda's house, there is a woman who rates the friendship of Pokémon.

When you're ready, head into the Rusturf Tunnel and use Rock Smash to destroy the boulder separating Wanda and her boyfriend. This will earn you 04 as a reward, though the Heat is still required to use this HM outside of battle. You can go through the cave, and on the Rustboro side, the Devon employee you helped gives you a Repeat Ball. Afterwards, return to Mauville City and head north from there to 111.

If you go southwest of the entrance you just used it leads to a hidden section of 116. There talk to a man who says he lost his glasses and use the Itemfinder to locate the Type-enhancing item, which enhances Dark attacks between the third and fourth trees from the entrance. Talk to the man again and he says they are not his missing glasses and leaves to look somewhere else. Now return to Mauville and head north to 111.

Route 111 (Southern section)
On this route, you have the option of challenging the Winstrate family to a series of battles from which you can win the EV-enhancing item.
Winstrate family

You can also see another battle facility: Trainer Hill. Unfortunately, you can't battle there yet. Anyway, using Rock Smash on the boulders, keep heading north up the route until you reach the edge of the desert area.

Here you can find to the Interviewers Gabby and Ty who will always challenge you to a Double Battle whenever you talk to them and after winning Gabby will interview you if you wish and the phrase you used can be observed whenever you go to a Television. They will always rotate between routes in the order of first the east side of 118, then to 120, and then back to this route. You'll need to beat the Petalburg Gym first and use Surf to rechallenge them. They are not listed in the PokéNav. More later, when you fight them 255 times, they stop moving. They'll stay on 111, and you rebattle them by leaving this route and re-entering. Finally, fight them is the best way to check Hidden Power type (explained below Route 111 Northern's section).

When you leave the Gym, you receive a call from Wally. His uncle has just bought him a PokéNav, and he's excited that he can contact you anytime.

This is the south section of the route. Keep going west here until you reach the stairs. Climb them. The cave entrance located a short distance west is the Fiery Path. With Team Magma blocking access to the Cable Car, your only choice is to go through the cave.

117 stretches west from Mauville City. The optional path serves as a shortcut back to western Hoenn, by way of Verdanturf Town and Rusturf Tunnel. A Pokémon Day Care is located just outside the city.

Pokémon Day Care
|- align="center"
The Pokémon Day Care is a facility that raises Pokémon for busy Trainers. For a small fee, up to two Pokémon can be left here to be raised by the Day Care staff. During their stay, Pokémon will gradually level up and learn new moves. When two Pokémon breeding Pokémon are left at the same time, you may return to find an Egg! Speak to the Day-Care Man and he will hint at the odds of finding one.

Whenever an Egg is found, the Day-Care Man will be standing farther away from the fence, eager to talk to you. Speak to him to receive the Egg, and carry it with you on your journey. The more you travel with an Egg, the faster the Pokémon inside will hatch.

Verdanturf is a small town just west of 117, at the foot of the mountains. Due to the prevailing wind pattern, the area is always kept clear of falling volcanic ash. Wally is visiting with his uncle's family here, in the hopes that the fresh, clean air will improve his health.

A boy located near a large tree will give you 43. Now you can access the TM shop in Slateport City. Secret Power itself is a fairly-powerful move with a chance to inflict a secondary effect (depending on the terrain of the battle), and also allows you to create Secret Bases.
Battle Tent
The Battle Tent stands in the northwest corner of town, and is the second of three scattered throughout Hoenn. At this location, challengers select three of their Pokémon to battle three opposing Trainers. These Trainers' Pokémon will either be level 30, or match the highest-leveled Pokémon in your party, whichever is higher. Trainers take a backseat here, while their Pokémon battle on their own, using moves most suited to their Natures. All moves are grouped into three categories; Attack, Defense, and Support. Each Nature has a ratio of Attack, Defense, and Support moves that Pokémon with that Nature will prefer to use, but these ratios may change when a Pokémon's HP falls below 50%. During battle, a Pokémon chooses one of these categories, then selects a random attack from its moveset that matches that category. If no such attack exists, the Pokémon will "appear incapable of using its power" and skip its turn. The reward for winning three consecutive battles here is a Nest.

*Note: You can decipher a Pokemon's Hidden Power type by starting a Double Battle with Kecleon (you can catch one later) and the Pokémon that has learned Hidden Power. Use Hidden Power on your own Kecleon (it must survive the blow), and Kecleon's Color Change ability will trigger. If Kecleon is unaffected, that Hidden Power is Ghost type.
Scott can be found in the entry hall. He claims that a Battle Tent is a great place to meet tough Trainers, and expects you to do your best here.

You can heal your party Pokémon in a house where an old lady. The old lady, however, will continually ask if you wants to take another rest, so in order to leave, you must answer "no" when she asks.
Wanda's House
The middle home on the south side belongs to Wanda, who happens to be Wally's cousin. This is where Wally is staying for now, but it seems that he's run off to train his Pokémon. According to Wanda's mother, Wanda is concerned about her boyfriend, who is working non-stop to complete the construction of Rusturf Tunnel. She often goes there to visit him.

Just head north and you'll find yourself on 113. On top of all the tall grass lies a layer of volcanic ash that has fallen here from Mt. Chimney. The house near the west end of the route is the Hoenn Route 113, where you can acquire the List of key items in Generation III. This key item allows you to collect ash from this route (and Jagged Pass later on) just by walking through it, accumulating the amount in a count of "steps" equivalent to the number of squares of ash you walked through.
The Glass Workshop will trade the ash for special flutes and furniture, which each cost a specific amount of "steps". The flutes serve various useful purposes and the furniture can be used to decorate your Secret Base.

The Researcher's Reward
Continue through Rusturf Tunnel to its western exit to return to Route 116. A Devon researcher can be found just outside the tunnel. It's the same researcher that you've helped before, and as thanks for delivering the III to Captain Stern, he wishes to reward you with a Repeat. After receiving this one, you can buy Repeat Balls and Timers in Rustboro City.

All you really need to do is go west into Fallarbor Town.  But there are Pokémon and Trainers here, so gain some experience! Picking your way around the ledges can be annoying, as you're pretty much constantly in ash, but it is a useful place to get some training done.

Mauville City

Mauville City

Mauville City is located in central Hoenn, situated between Routes 110, 111, 117, and 118. Tourist hotspots include the Mauville Gym, Game Corner, and Rydel's Cycles.

Rydel's Cycles

Rydel's Cycles is located near the city's east exit. Spotting your dirty Running Shoes, the shop owner, Rydel, realizes that you've done a lot of traveling. He offers you a free bicycle, and gives you the choice between two models. The Mach Bike is faster and is able to ride up muddy slopes, which is useful for exploring places like Granite Cave. The Acro Bike is slower which allows for more precise control and the ability to perform tricks. After choosing a bike, you can speak to Rydel at any time to swap it for the other model.

Game Corner

Game Corner interior
Roulette

The Game Corner features sixteen slot machines, four of which are in use by other patrons, and two roulette tables. A Coin Case is needed to participate. Coins may be purchased from the woman at the left side of the service desk, available at 50 for $1,000 and 500 for $10,000.

Prizes

Collect enough coins and they can be exchanged for valuable prizes. To do so, speak to either of the two women at the right side of the service desk.

Wally's Challenge

When you approach the Gym, you find Wally and his uncle talking outside the building. He desperately wants to challenge the Gym, but his uncle has reservations. He challenges you to a quick battle to test his skills.

He lets you know that he'll be cheering for you, and heads west to Route 117.

Move Tutor

Another Move Tutor can be found outside the Gym. This man offers to teach the move Rollout to a Pokémon, one time only.

Mauville Gym

Mauville Gym

Mauville City Pokémon Gym
Leader: Wattson

The cheerfully electrifying man!

The Mauville Gym specializes in Electric-type Pokémon. While Pokémon of this type are only vulnerable to Ground-type attacks, the other Pokémon inside make Fire and Fighting moves useful as well. Keep your Water- and Flying-type Pokémon on the sidelines for now. The Gym features several electrical barriers, which can be turned on and off by stepping on thunderbolt-shaped switches. To reach the Gym Leader, simply step on the southwest switch.

The Dynamo Badge

After the battle, Wattson awards you the Dynamo Badge, which boosts your Pokémon's Speed by 10% and enables the use of Rock Smash in the field. He also hands out TM34 (Shock Wave) as a prize, and registers himself in your PokéNav.

When you leave the Gym, you receive a call from Wally. His uncle has just bought him a PokéNav, and he's excited that he can contact you anytime.

Route 117

Route 117

Route 117 stretches west from Mauville City. The optional path serves as a shortcut back to western Hoenn, by way of Verdanturf Town and Rusturf Tunnel. A Pokémon Day Care is located just outside the city.

Pokémon Day Care

The Pokémon Day Care is a facility that raises Pokémon for busy Trainers. For a small fee, up to two Pokémon can be left here to be raised by the Day Care staff. During their stay, Pokémon will gradually level up and learn new moves. When two compatible Pokémon are left at the same time, you may return to find an Egg! Speak to the Day-Care Man and he will hint at the odds of finding one.

70%
"The two seem to get along."
50%
"The two don't seem to like each other much."
20%

Whenever an Egg is found, the Day-Care Man will be standing farther away from the fence, eager to talk to you. Speak to him to receive the Egg, and carry it with you on your journey. The more you travel with an Egg, the faster the Pokémon inside will hatch.

Verdanturf Town

Verdanturf Town

Verdanturf is a small town just west of Route 117, at the foot of the mountains. Due to the prevailing wind pattern, the area is always kept clear of falling volcanic ash. Wally is visiting with his uncle's family here, in the hopes that the fresh, clean air will improve his health.

Move Tutor

Another Move Tutor can be found inside the Pokémon Center. This young boy offers to teach the move Fury Cutter to a Pokémon, one time only.

Battle Tent

The Verdanturf Battle Tent stands in the northwest corner of town, and is the second of three scattered throughout Hoenn. The reward for winning three consecutive battles here is a Nest Ball.

Scott can be found in the entry hall. He claims that a Battle Tent is a great place to meet tough Trainers, and expects you to do your best here.

Friendship Rater

In the house situated to the left of Wanda's house, there is a woman who rates the friendship of Pokémon.

Reunion

With the Dynamo Badge, you can finally use Rock Smash to clear a path through Rusturf Tunnel. Step inside and go northwest to reach a group of cracked rocks. Clear the debris to open the tunnel and reunite Wanda with her hardworking boyfriend. As thanks, he gives you HM04 (Strength)!

Lost His Glasses

Take the tunnel's middle exit to reach a previously-unreachable part of Route 116. The Bug Maniac here has lost his glasses, so dig out your Itemfinder and use it to track down a pair of BlackGlasses. These aren't the glasses he lost though, so you get to keep them. Before moving on, be sure to grab the HP Up on the ridge.

The Researcher's Reward

Continue through Rusturf Tunnel to its western exit to return to Route 116. A Devon researcher can be found just outside the tunnel. It's the same researcher that you've helped before, and as thanks for delivering the Devon Goods to Captain Stern, he wishes to reward you with a Repeat Ball. After receiving this one, you can buy Repeat Balls and Timer Balls in Rustboro City.
