Go to Celestic Town. Go inside the biggest house at the north. Talk to Cynthia's grandmother. You can see a picture of the opposite version mascot: Palkia or Dialga. Then she will tell you about the Pokémon in the picture, and it will be considered as a seen Pokémon in your PokeDex. This is crucial for completing seen Pokémon in the Sinnoh Pokédex.

So Saturn's left in charge of the whole Team Galactic, and he's considering what to do next.
So Saturn's left in charge of the whole Team Galactic, and he's considering what to do next. He has learnt that "extremism is never the solution". Remember this message-- always taking things to the extreme leads to failure.

Go to Lake Verity. Surf to the middle of the lake and enter Verity Cavern. Talk to Mesprit and get ready for a battle...... but suddenly a picture of Mesprit pops out, then Mesprit disappears! Professor Rowan comes in and says that you have tried to do what he asked you to do, but Mesprit doesn't provide you any answer, and Mesprit wants to "play with you". He also tells you that you can track Mesprit down with the Pokétch App Marking Map. (He will be surprised if you don't have the Marking Map, and tells you to visit Pokétch Company in Jubilife City) Mesprit will be considered as a seen Pokémon in your Pokédex.

Now Mesprit roams around Sinnoh. It can appear on almost every route, and also at the Valley Windworks and Fuego Ironworks. When you change locations, it will teleport to another place too.

You'll see a blinking face on the Marking Map. That blinking face represents Mesprit...... no, actually, any roaming Pokémon. It is highly recommended that you catch it now because there'll be another roaming Pokémon after you completed the main storyline, and there'll be 2 blinking faces on the map, which will totally mess you up -- you won't know which blinking face is which Pokémon until you run into one of them in a battle!

Two of the best places to "wait" for Mesprit to show up are 205 and the Valley Windworks. Run back and forth between the boundary of these two places until you and Mesprit are in the same place. Once Mesprit is in the same place as you, use a Repel, save your game, and set a Pokémon at or under Level 50 as your first Pokémon. Then, go inside the tall grass and run around (or surf around in the water) until Mesprit appears.

Apply the same strategy as the one you used to catch Dialga/Palkia. After your first move, Mesprit will escape unless your Pokémon used Mean Look or other similar moves that prevent escaping. All damages and status ailments will remain on Mesprit even it escapes, though.

When Mesprit is damaged enough (i.e. HP bar is in red), the next time you encounter Mesprit, start throwing Quick Balls without hesitating. Since you only have the first turn as your only chance in an encounter, Quick Balls are your best choice, but they'll not surely capture it -- you may need to waste 10, 20, 30 or even more if you're really unlucky. Be very patient, and you'll ultimately succeed.
Immediately inflict a status ailment (paralysis, sleep, freeze) on Mesprit when you encounter it. After your first move, Mesprit will escape unless your Pokémon used Mean Look or other similar moves that prevent escaping. All damages and status ailments will remain on Mesprit even it escapes, though. The next time you encounter Mesprit, hit it with a super-effective attack (if you are afraid that the attack may knock Mesprit out, launch a regularly-effective attack). If Mesprit is damaged enough (i.e. HP bar is in yellow), use attacks that are not very effective to whittle its health away.

Or, if you decided to prevent it from escaping, throw Ultra Balls (or Dusk Balls if playing at night) instead. You may also consider about using your probably only Master Ball, but as mentioned above, there will be Cresselia for you to catch after you completed the main storyline. You could save this precious ball for that one.

Comparing to the other 2 Lake guardians, Mesprit's stats are more balanced. Half (i.e. 2) of its moves are offensive, while the remaining half are defensive. Its offensive and defensive stats are also balanced.

This beach path is quite straightforward— head east and you'll reach the gate to Sunyshore City. There is a large amount of Trainers. However, most can be avoided if you do not wish to battle (But why would you want to avoid them?). This is a good place for training for your upcoming Gym challenge. The house on the left is a Pikachu fan club, and the house on the right contains a man that will randomly assess the size of any Remoraid that you show him. If it's big enough, you will be rewarded with an item. There are also many items scattered on this route. To grab all of them, you'll need some HMs.

This fairly large city has elevated bridges that are actually solar panels! They were built to provide electricity to the Vista Lighthouse and Sunyshore Gym, which use a lot of electricity. Heal up at the Pokémon Center, and explore the town. The large building to your north is Sunyshore Market, where you can buy seals for your Ball Capsules. Different seals are sold on each day of the week. If you travel on the solar panel roads to the two houses in the northeast corner of the city, you can meet an elderly couple that will comment on Team Galactic. Apparently, the woman knew Galactic Boss Cyrus when he was younger. These people are in the house on the right. The house on the left has a woman in it that will give your Pokémon a ribbon once per day if you tell her a story. The house that you must access using Rock Climb has a scientist inside that can give you several different Pokétch Apps, as a reward for showing him a Pokémon with the nature that he requests.

If you go north from the Pokémon Center far enough, you will arrive on a small beach. You can surf on the water, but this route comes after you have eight badges. Now that Team Galactic is done for......

Now that Team Galactic is utterly destroyed and finally out of the way, there are a few things for you to do.

Celestic Town, collecting data of opposite version mascot

Go to Celestic Town. Go inside the biggest house at the north. Talk to Cynthia's grandmother. You can see a picture of the opposite version mascot: PalkiaD or DialgaP. Then she will tell you about the Pokémon in the picture, and it will be considered as a seen Pokémon in your PokeDex. This is crucial for completing seen Pokémon in the Sinnoh Pokédex.

Galactic HQ, words from Commander Saturn

Go to Veilstone City. Head to Galactic HQ. You'll find that it is renamed as Galactic Veilstone Building. Head inside, and you'll find Commander Saturn near the reception. Talk to him, and he'll tell you:

"So, it's you...
I've heard about you and what took place at the Spear Pillar.
What our boss really wanted... Even I don't know that.
His confident manner of speaking... His logical words...
I think people just became so enthralled by him.
I allowed myself to believe his words because I wanted to see the world he intended to make.
I've been left in charge of this HQ building and the remnants of the membership...
The decision on what Team Galactic should do rests with me...
But I've learned that extremism is never the solution..."

So Saturn's left in charge of the whole Team Galactic, and he's considering what to do next. He has learnt that "extremism is never the solution". Remember this message-- always taking things to the extreme leads to failure.

Catching the Lake Guardians

You'll need to bring Pokémon with Surf. Buy a lot of Dusk Balls, Quick Balls and Repels before proceeding.

The Lake guardians will wait for you in the cavern of their respective lake:

When you talk to Azelf and Uxie, they will immediately battle you. But Mesprit won't, unlike the rest.

As all 3 are pure Psychic-type Pokémon, Dark-type, Bug-type and Ghost-type moves are super effective, while Fighting-type moves are not very effective. Bring Pokémon with those moves. All 3 are at Level 50, so be careful. Their attacks— Confusion and Future Sight (which lands a hit 2 turns later), can deal a lot of damage.

You can just proceed on without catching them, but why would you reject their "invitation"?

Catching Mesprit

Mesprit in Verity Cavern

Make sure that you have your first Pokémon under Level 50, your Pokétch App Marking Map is ready, buy a lot of Quick Balls and Repels before proceeding to catch Mesprit.

Two of the best places to "wait" for Mesprit to show up are Route 205 and the Valley Windworks. Run back and forth between the boundary of these two places until you and Mesprit are in the same place. Once Mesprit is in the same place as you, use a Repel, save your game, and set a Pokémon at or under Level 50 as your first Pokémon (be sure that it can outspeed Mesprit). Then, go inside the tall grass and run around (or surf around in the water) until Mesprit appears.

When Mesprit is in critical health (i.e. HP bar is in red), the next time you encounter Mesprit, start throwing Quick Balls without hesitation. Since you only have the first turn as your only chance in an encounter, Quick Balls are your best choice, but they'll not surely capture it -- you may need to waste 10, 20, 30 or even more if you're really unlucky. Be very patient, and you'll ultimately succeed.

Or, if you decided to prevent it from escaping, throw Ultra Balls (or Dusk Balls if playing at night) instead. You may also consider about using your probably only Master Ball, but as mentioned above, there will be another roaming Pokémon for you to catch after you completed the main storyline. You could save this precious ball for that one.

Comparing to the other 2 Lake guardians, Mesprit's stats are more balanced. Half (i.e. 2) of its moves are offensive, while the remaining half are defensive. Its offensive and defensive stats are also balanced.

Catching Azelf

Azelf in Valor Cavern

Make sure that you buy a lot of Dusk Balls before proceeding.

Go to Lake Valor. You will find that the lake has miraculously been restored. Surf to the southeast of the lake to collect TM25 (Thunder), and then surf again to the middle and enter Valor Cavern.

Make sure that you heal your Pokémon and save your game before proceeding!

Now talk to Azelf. It will actually battle you— right here, right now, no running.

Apply the same strategy as the one you used to catch Dialga/Palkia. As you are inside a cave, Dusk Balls are your best and only choice, but they'll not surely capture it -- you may also need to waste 10, 20, 30 or even more if you're really unlucky. Be patient and you will finally succeed.

Azelf is more offensive. Its attacks hurt more, and it also has Nasty Plot to boost its Sp. Atk, so watch out!

Catching Uxie

Uxie in Acuity Cavern

Make sure that you buy a lot of Dusk Balls before proceeding.

Go to Lake Acuity. Surf to the middle of the lake and enter Acuity Cavern.

Make sure that you heal your Pokémon and save your game before proceeding!

Now talk to Uxie. It will also battle you right here and right now -- no running.

Uxie is more defensive. Its attacks hurt less, but you still need to be careful. Its Yawn can make your Pokémon drowsy and fall asleep in the next turn.

Hotel Grand Lake

Heal your Pokémon before proceeding. You'll need to bring Pokémon with Cut, Surf and Rock Smash.

Head east from Seven Stars Restaurant, Hotel Grand Lake. There was a man that blocked you, but now that the blackout of Sunyshore City is over, you can proceed to Route 222.

Route 222

Route 222

Make sure that you have Pokémon with Cut, Surf and Rock Smash before proceeding.

Sunyshore City

Route 222

When you enter Sunyshore City, a man with red hair appears and introduces himself as Flint, a member of the Sinnoh Elite Four! (Elite Four are way tougher than Gym Leaders and will be your next challenge after you obtain final Gym Badge) He tells you that his good friend, which is the Gym Leader of Sunyshore Gym -- Volkner, is not in mood of battle and has headed to Vista Lighthouse. He recognizes your talent and hopes that you'll have an exciting battle with Volkner.

You'll need to bring Pokémon with Rock Climb.

When you try to enter the Gym (it's in the city's northwest corner), you'll find that Flint is there to tell you that Volkner is not back yet.

If you go north from the Pokémon Center far enough, you will arrive on a small beach. You can surf on the water, but this route comes after you have eight Badges. The girl standing on the beach-- Jasmine, is a Gym Leader in Olivine City, Johto region. Talk to her after you get your eighth and final Badge to receive HM07 (Waterfall). The water is Route 223. Wait to travel across the ocean until you have your eighth Badge— you do not have the necessary HM to climb the waterfall at the end.

Now head to the Vista Lighthouse on the southeast of the town via the bridge. Grab the hidden Zap Plate, then head inside.

Vista Lighthouse

You'll be immediately in a lift that brings you up. After arriving on the top floor, talk to everyone. One of them is Gym Leader Volkner. He'll tell you that there haven't been any worthy challengers recently. After talking with him, he'll go back to Sunyshore Gym.
