Catching the Lake Guardians

Now that the events in Mt. Coronet and Spear Pillar is over, and Team Galactic is utterly destroyed and finally out of the way, the Lake guardians will wait for you in the cavern of their respective lake:

When you talk to Azelf and Uxie, they will immediately battle you. But Mesprit won't, unlike the rest.

As all 3 are pure Template:Type2 Pokemon, Template:Type2, Template:Type2 and Template:Type2 moves are super effective, while Template:Type2 moves are not very effective. Bring Pokemon with those moves. All 3 are at Level 50, so be careful -- their attacks can deal a lot of damage.

You can just proceed on without catching them, but why would you reject their "invitation"?

Catching Mesprit

Mesprit in Verity Cavern

Go to Lake Verity. Surf to the middle of the lake and enter Verity Cavern. Talk to Mesprit and get ready for a battle..... but suddenly a picture of Mesprit pops out, then Mesprit disappears! Professor Rowan comes in and says that you have tried to do what he asked you to do, but Mesprit doesn't provide you any answer, and Mesprit wants to "play with you." He also tells you that you can track Mesprit down with the Poketch App Marking Map. (He will be surprised if you don't have the Marking Map, and tells you to visit Poketch Company in Jubilife City) Mesprit will be considered as a seen Pokemon in your PokeDex.

Make sure that you have your first Pokemon under Level 50, buy a lot of Quick Balls and Repels before proceeding to catch Mesprit.

Now Mesprit roams in Sinnoh. It can appear on almost every route, and also at the Valley Windworks and Fuego Ironworks. When you get to another place, it will teleport to another place too. Two of the best places to "wait" for Mesprit to show up are Route 205 and Valley Windworks. Run back and forth between the boundary of these two places until you and Mesprit are in the same place. Once Mesprit is in the same place as you, use a Repel, save your game, and set a Pokemon at or under Level 50 as your first Pokemon. Then, go inside the tall grass and run around until Mesprit appears.

Apply the same strategy as the one you used to catch Dialga/Palkia. After your first move, Mesprit will escape unless your Pokemon used Mean Look or other similar moves that prevent escaping. All damages and status ailments will remain on Mesprit even it escapes, though.

When Mesprit is damaged enough (i.e. HP bar is in red), the next time you encounter Mesprit, start throwing Quick Balls without hesitating. Since you only have the first turn as your only chance in an encounter, Quick Balls are your best choice, but they'll not surely capture it -- you may need to waste 10, 20, 30 or even more if you're really unlucky. Be very patient, and you'll ultimately succeed.

Or, if you decide to prevent it from escaping, throw Ultra Balls (or Dusk Balls if playing at night) instead. You may also consider about using your Master Ball, but there will be another roaming Pokemon for you to catch after you completed the main storyline. You should save this precious ball for that one.

Catching Azelf

Azelf in Valor Cavern

Make sure that you buy a lot of Dusk Balls before proceeding.

Go to Lake Valor. You will find that the lake is restored. Surf to the southeast of the lake to collect TM25 (Thunder), and then surf again to the middle and enter Valor Cavern.

Make sure that you heal your Pokemon and save your game before proceeding!

Now talk to Azelf. It will actually battle you— right here, right now, no running.

Apply the same strategy as the one you used to catch Dialga/Palkia. As you are inside a cave, Dusk Balls are your best and only choice, but they'll not surely capture it -- you may also need to waste 10, 20, 30 or even more if you're really unlucky. Be patient and you will finally succeed.

Azelf is more offensive. Its attacks hurt more, so watch out!

Catching Uxie

File:Lake Uxie.png
Uxie in Acuity Cavern

Make sure that you buy a lot of Dusk Balls before proceeding.

Go to Lake Acuity. Surf to the middle of the lake and enter Acuity Cavern.

Make sure that you heal your Pokemon and save your game before proceeding!

Now talk to Uxie. It will also battle you right here and right now -- no running.

Again, apply the same strategy as the one you used to catch Dialga/Palkia. As you are inside a cave, Dusk Balls are your best and only choice, but they'll not surely capture it -- you may need to waste 10, 20, 30 or even more if you're really unlucky. Be very patient, and you'll finally succeed.

Uxie is more defensive. Its attacks hurt less, but you still need to be careful.

Hotel Grand Lake
