Section 1: Twinleaf Town to Sandgem Town

Twinleaf Town

The journey begins at your home in Twinleaf Town. You are watching the television when a news broadcast declares a team searching for a red Gyarados in a far-off lake (presumably the Lake of Rage in Johto) has not observed the Pokémon in question. You leave your house and are told that your rival wishes to see you. As you are about to enter the house, your rival comes into you. After speaking, he runs back inside. Enter, and go upstairs. Your rival will be deciding what to take. Speak to him, and he will rush down and wait for you.

Lake Verity

You and your rival set off for Lake Verity. When you arrive there, you see Professor Rowan (though this is unkown at the time) and either Lucas or Dawn, corresponding to the opposite gender of your character. However, when he and you enter the long grass, you are each attacked by a wild Starly. You open the breifcase and find three Pokéballs, containing Piplup, Chimchar and Turtwig. Choose one, and your rival will choose the Pokémon with a type advantage over yours. Suddenly, the Professor's aide returns and remarks that Rowan would be very angry if he forgot that briefcase. He then asks if you two have used a Pokémon from the breifcase. After replying, he hurries off.

Sandgem Town

After reaching Sandgem Town, it is recommended that you heal your Pokémon at the Pokémon Center. Then, visit the largest building in town.
