32 is a lengthy, Trainer-heavy route that stretches south along the shoreline. The Ruins of Alph lie off to the northwest, but only the first of the four chambers is currently accessible.

Ruins of Alph
Read the hint in the north chamber to identify the Pokémon and move the pieces into place. Once complete, the floor gives way, dropping you into the main underground chamber where the first eleven forms of Unown, A through K, have awakened. Catch at least three different forms, and one of the scientists investigating the ruins will take you to the research building and upgrade your Pokédex so it can record the various Unown forms.

HM03 and HM04 are required to reach the three other puzzles, and unlock the other Unown forms. In addition, the lone patch of grass is the only place to find wild Natu and Smeargle.

Once you get to Goldenrod City, the first thing you should do is go challenge the gym leader Whitney. If you don't feel you are ready yet, 35 has trainers you can battle to gain more experience. If you have trained a Geodude or an Onix you can get 04 on Route 35. Having a well trained Rock type with Rollout could prove useful against Whitney's Miltank

Gold
South of the ruins are two men standing near a hill. The first gives you a Type-enhancing item, which boosts Grass attacks, while the man behind the Cut tree hands out 05. Head south to reach a small inlet, and register Fisherman Ralph's phone number for alerts about Qwilfish Pokémon outbreak. Further south, a shady man offers a "tasty, nutritious Valuable item" for only pdollar1,000,000. Meet up with Frieda behind the Pokémon Center on a Friday to get a Type-enhancing item. Chat up the Fishing Guru inside to get the II, and rest up before entering Union Cave.

Union Cave is a small, three-floor cave on the south end of the peninsula. Seawater wells up from underground, preventing access to the deepest parts of the cave for now. The ground-level tunnel merely connects 32 and 33, but exploring the basement floors with Surf and Strength reveals two more exits that lead back to the Ruins of Alph. On the bottom floor, a wild Lapras appears once a week.

After defeating Whitney, instead of receiving your badge she starts to cry. The girl you battled before Whitney will tell you that she does this every time she loses. Talk to her again to get the Plain Badge. In addition to that you will get 45. You will also be able to use the HM move Strength outside of battle.

The ground-level tunnel is a fairly straightforward path. Wind your way back and forth until you see the ladder on the southwest platform, which lets you reach an Battle item and 39 on the floor below. Grab the Awakening at the south wall, and take the exit to 33.

B1F
Return with the HM moves Surf and Strength to finally explore the rest of the cave.

Goldenrod City is the biggest city in Johto. There are a few important things you do not want to miss.
To reach the Ruins of Alph, climb the ladder on the southwest platform to B1F. Surf north to reach a fork in the road; the northern path leads to Puzzle #3, while the southern path, blocked by a boulder, leads to Puzzle #4.

Goldenrod City Department Store
B2F
To reach the bottom floor, surf across the pool of water in the southwest to reach a ladder. Swim across another pool on B1F, and take the next ladder to the north side of B2F. There's an Elixer in the northeast corner, and a Potion on the platform near Ace Trainer Nick. A Lapras appears in the south pool every Friday.

The Goldenrod City Department Store is much bigger than the average PokéMart and is stocked with unique items you can't buy anywhere else. The department store has 6 main floors as well as a basement floor and a rooftop lookout. Here's a list of the floors and what you find on them:

move3=Mist|move3type=Ice
move4=Body Slam|move4type=Normal
}}

*B1- Training Room. This floor has some Machoke, trainers, and some boxes. There are also 3 accessible itemballs that you can get. To get them, go to a different floor and then come back. When you come back the boxes will be rearranged. Do this until you get all three items.

*1- Service Counter. Not much here really. There is a poster pinned to the wall that lists the names of every floor.
*2- Trainer's Market. This floor has the same things you would find in a regular Pokémart. Poké Balls, Repels, Potions, Escape Ropes, etc.
*3- Battle Collection.  Here you'll find things to be used during battle such as X Speed, Guard Spec., etc.
*4- Medicine Box. Protein, Iron, Carbos, Calcium, etc. can be found here.
*5- TM Corner. TM's for the moves Fire Punch, ThunderPunch, Ice Punch, Headbutt and Rock Smash. There is also a guy who wants to trade his Machop for an Abra.
*6- Tranquil Square. The only thing on this floor is a Vending Machine. The machine sells Water, Soda Pop and Lemonade. These drinks restore your Pokémon's HP by 50, 60, and 80 respectively.
*7- Rooftop Lookout. Nothing much here but occasionally there are bargains to be found. Camper Todd, a trainer who is outside of Goldenrod City on 34 will call you if there are sales if you give him your number.

Bicycle Shop
Route 33
Next go to the bicycle shop. The owner there is really bummed because his bikes aren't selling. He asks you to borrow one of his bikes and ride it around to advertise his shop. He also gets your phone number. He eventually lets you own the bike since after you started riding his bikes he got a lot of business.
33 is extremely short, and connects Union Cave to Azalea Town in the west. Before heading into town, defeat Hiker Anthony and register his phone number to receive alerts about Dunsparce Pokémon outbreak.

Radio Tower

Azalea Town
Another thing Goldenrod City is known for is its Radio Tower. First things first you'll want to get a Radio Card. There is a girl at the counter on the first floor of the tower who will ask you five questions. Answer them all correctly and you will receive a Radio Card for you PokéGear. This will allow you to tune in to Radio Stations on your PokéGear. The questions are pretty easy but here are the answers: yes, yes, no, yes, no.  The guy at the counter does the Luck Radio Station. He checks the ID number of your Pokémon and if they match the lucky ID number of the day you win a prize.  On the second floor there is a girl named Buena. Talk to her to receive the Blue Card. Every night from 6 PM to midnight she says a password on her radio show. Go to the Radio Tower and tell her the word to receive points on your card. These points can be redeemed for prizes. Buena's Password is only on Crystal.
Azalea is a small, isolated town on the south end of the peninsula. Situated between Union Cave to the east and Ilex Forest to the west, the town does not get many visitors. The residents know that something's up when you tell them of shady people near the Slowpoke Well, and Kurt, the famous Apricorn craftsman, rushes off to help the oblivious Pokémon inside.

There are a few trainers here that will want to battle you. In addition to that there are the haircut brothers. Depending on which day you go you could find the younger brother or the older brother. Haircuts raise your Pokémon's happiness level. The older more experience brother raises your Pokemon's happiness level more than the younger brother so he charges  500PDollar for his work. The younger brother charges 300PDollar. There is a herb shop and a bargain shop in the underground as well but the herb shop is only open on Sunday and Saturday and the bargain shop is only open on Monday mornings. The coin case is also found at the Underground Tunnel.

* The Name Rater resides in Goldenrod City. There is a sign outside his house so you should be able to find it easier. He can change the nickname of your Pokémon as long as you nicknamed it. Pokémon received in a trade cannot be renamed.
* On floor 5 of the department store on Sunday's you can receive either 21 or 27 The one you get depends on your lead Pokémon's happiness level.

Once you get past Firebreather Walt and Juggler Irwin there is a grassy path to your right. Walk through it and go down to find  {TM|04|Rollout}}.
After this go back and go through the gate. If its night time and you talk to the Officer outside the gate he will challenge you to a battle. Going through the gate takes you to the National Park.

With the Rockets gone, you are now free to challenge the Azalea Gym. Rest up at the Pokémon Center, and head inside.

National Park

The National Park is home to plenty of bug and flying Pokémon. If you go to the right upon entering you will see a lady on a bench with her Persian. She will give you a Quick Claw. It is a hold item that increases the user's chance of striking first in battle. Trainers in the grass will want to battle you so if you aren't up to battling stay out.

The Bug Catching Contests are held on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. To enter, talk to the guy at the gate. He will hold all of your Pokémon except for your lead Pokémon so have the one you want to use first in line. He will also give you twenty Park Balls to use for catching Pokémon. You get a Gold Berry at the end just for participating and the first place prize is a Sun Stone. Rarer Pokémon get you more points so look for hard for Pokémon such as Scyther, Pinsir, or Butterfree. Level also counts too.

Route 32

Route 32

Route 32 is a lengthy, Trainer-heavy route that stretches south along the shoreline. The Ruins of Alph lie off to the northwest, but only the first of the four chambers is currently accessible.

Ruins of Alph

South of the ruins are two men standing near a hill. The first gives you a Miracle Seed, which boosts Grass-type attacks, while the man behind the cuttable tree hands out TM05 (Roar). Head south to reach a small inlet, and register Fisherman Ralph's phone number for alerts about Qwilfish swarms. Further south, a shady man offers a "tasty, nutritious SlowpokeTail" for only $1,000,000. Meet up with Frieda behind the Pokémon Center on a Friday to get a Poison Barb. Chat up the Fishing Guru inside to get the Old Rod, and rest up before entering Union Cave.

Union Cave

Union Cave, 1F

Union Cave is a small, three-floor cave on the south end of the peninsula. Seawater wells up from underground, preventing access to the deepest parts of the cave for now. The ground-level tunnel merely connects Route 32 and Route 33, but exploring the basement floors with Surf and Strength reveals two more exits that lead back to the Ruins of Alph. On the bottom floor, a wild Lapras appears once a week.

1F

The ground-level tunnel is a fairly straightforward path. Wind your way back and forth until you see the ladder on the southwest platform, which lets you reach an X Defend and TM39 (Swift) on the floor below. Grab the Awakening at the south wall, and take the exit to Route 33.

Return with the HM moves Surf and Strength to finally explore the rest of the cave.

To reach the Ruins of Alph, climb the ladder on the southwest platform to B1F. Surf north to reach a fork in the road; the northern path leads to Puzzle #3, while the southern path, blocked by a boulder, leads to Puzzle #4.

To reach the bottom floor, surf across the pool of water in the southwest to reach a ladder. Swim across another pool on B1F, and take the next ladder to the north side of B2F. There's an Elixer in the northeast corner, and a Hyper Potion on the platform near Ace Trainer Nick. A Lapras appears in the south pool every Friday.

Route 33

Route 33 is extremely short, and connects Union Cave to Azalea Town in the west. Before heading into town, defeat Hiker Anthony and register his phone number to receive alerts about Dunsparce swarms.

Azalea Town

Azalea Town

Azalea is a small, isolated town on the south end of the peninsula. Situated between Union Cave to the east and Ilex Forest to the west, the town does not get many visitors. The residents know that something's up when you tell them of shady people near the Slowpoke Well, and Kurt, the famous Apricorn craftsman, rushes off to help the oblivious Pokémon inside.
