Character recycling is a term used for the Pokémon anime for a character whose design has been used more than once.
Examples
Brutella and Nastina
Brutella was featured in Beauty and the Beach and Tentacool & Tentacruel. A look-a-like by the name of Nastina was featured in Tentacool and Tentacruel.
Hagatha and Nagatha
Hagatha and Nagatha were feathred in Illusion Confusion!.
Annie and Stephanie
