amiibo (Japanese: アミーボ amiibo) are a line of interactive figures by Nintendo. Each amiibo figure contains an NFC chip in its base, which allows it to interact with multiple games on both the Wii U and New Nintendo 3DS consoles using near field communication.

Several Pokémon characters have been announced or released as part of the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U line. These figures are intended for use with the eponymous game, which allows each figure to store a matching AI-controlled character that can be powered up and fought with/against in numerous game modes. Pikachu was released as part of the initial wave in November 21, 2014, while Lucario was made available in February 2015. Charizard, Jigglypuff and Greninja have been released in Europe in late April 2015, and are planned to be released on April 29, 2015 in Japan and on May 29, 2015 in North America. Mewtwo is planned for a future date.
