Maxxed Out! (Japanese: マサトとマサト！アメタマを守れ！ Masato and Masato! Protect Ametama!) is the 49th episode of the Advanced Generation series, and the 323rd episode of the Pokémon anime. It was first broadcast in Japan on October 30, 2003 and in the United States on October 30, 2004.

Blurb

Ash and friends stop at a Pokémon Center where May's Skitty pops out of its Poké Ball and causes trouble. A kid that looks a lot like comes up to yell at them—and his name is also Max! The two Maxes get into a fight.

May and Max run into the other Max outside, saying hello to his Surskit. To avoid a fight, Brock suggests that everyone take out their Pokémon. Team Rocket arrives on the scene, but Skitty grabs Jessie's hair. Surskit escapes while Jessie goes berserk in another one of Team Rocket's giant contraptions, sending everyone blasting off.

While the kids are looking for Surskit, the other Max admits that he's jealous because he doesn't get to travel with his Pokémon. They find Surskit in a spring, but are attacked by Team Rocket again. The Maxes team up, and Surskit uses Water Pulse to break a rock dam, washing Team Rocket away.

Jessie emerges from the water to grab Surskit, but is hit hard by Skitty. Then a double-attack from Surskit and Pikachu sends the crooks blasting off for good.

The other Max decides to go traveling with his Surskit, and both Maxes shake hands, now good friends.

Plot

Ash and his friends go to a Pokémon Center near a beautiful lake. As usual, Brock begins to flirt with Nurse Joy and gives her a bouquet of flowers, which Nurse Joy accepts. May and Max sigh as Skitty pops out of its Poké Ball. Skitty begins to chase its tail causing everyone to make an attempt to stop it. An angry boy comes in. Brock tries to get Skitty to go to him only to get smacked in the face. Then, May takes out a cattail. It tickles her and she sneezes. Max tries his luck with the cattail and succeeds. The angry kid from earlier, says something about Skitty and only skilled Trainers could handle them. Max exclaims he already knew that and the two boys begin to argue. Nurse Joy asks "Max" to stop but Max doesn't realize that the other boy's name is also Max. The two of them continue to fight until Nurse Joy breaks them up. They stare and Max leaves as Max shouts after him. Joy compliments Max on his knowledge as Brock comes in try to impress her with his knowledge.

Max is sitting at a lake. Somewhere nearby, James wakes up to the sound of his alarm clock. He says that they are late when Jessie and Meowth asks why. He says that they should be at the Pokémon Center to steal Pikachu. Jessie says they should go but James has his "wash the face" routine of his. Meowth does the same thing but Jessie says something to James which makes him sulk on a stump. He stands up and says when they catch Pikachu they'll see how great he is only to sulk again when the other Two Team Rocket members were already going. May is relaxing on a large rock when Max says that she should help Joy with the Pokémon instead. The two start an argument while a Surskit rushes past and May scans the creature with her Pokédex. It turns a corner and Max goes down to see it. Max gets mad at the sight of him and May drags him by the arm to see Max. She says that the two should be friends since they both love Pokémon but Max turns her down. Max takes his time petting Surskit but Max slaps his hand away. The two immediately start arguing. But May tries to stop them.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket is looking at Ash and the gang with their binoculars. Then, they spot Surskit. They decide to give it to their Boss and they imagine what would happen. Brock tells them to send out all their Pokémon. Max then realize that Skitty is not Max's. May introduces Skitty to all of their Pokémon. After seeing its tail, Skitty begins to chase it again. May takes out the cattail but Skitty soon falls asleep.

Team Rocket jumps out of the bush. Team Rocket explains that their goal is not Pikachu but the Surskit. They recite their motto, while getting close to Surskit and dodging the gang. Ash tells Treecko to use Quick Attack but Treecko gets the ball instead. Then, Pikachu uses Thunderbolt but Team Rocket uses an umbrella to conduct the electricity. Skitty wakes up. Team Rocket runs towards Surskit but Skitty, seeing Jessie's hair, jumps up to catch it. It messes with Jessie's hair and Jessie tries to swipe it off. After hitting James and Meowth, it falls off and Jessie runs away, crying. At this point, Surskit has run away.

While looking for Surskit, Team Rocket appear in a new robot with a massive mallet. Everyone starts laughing at Jessie's messed up hair which causes her to go crazy and start attacking Ash and co. with the giant mallet. Meanwhile, Max and Max forgive and forget and they eventually find Surskit hiding in a new water spring in the forest. The good times are short lived as Team Rocket find Max, Max, May and Surskit and start to attack. Cacnea begins to sink into the water spring, leaving James no choice but to return it. While this is happening, Max orders Surskit to use Water Pulse on some rocks, forcing more water to wash Team Rocket into the water.

Jessie then appears from the water looking and walking like a monster and tries to wrestle Surskit away from Max. Skitty uses DoubleSlap on Jessie, making her fall back into the water. With a combination of Thunderbolt and BubbleBeam, Team Rocket get blasted away into the sky.
