Template:Future The 2011 Pokémon World Championships will be the eighth annual invitation-only championships for players in the Pokémon Trading Card Game and Pokémon Video Games, marking the third consecutive year of this international event. The event will be held in August of 2011 in San Diego, California, the third time that city has hosted the event. The seaside city on the lower coast of California had previously hosted the event in 2005 and 2009.
Trading Card Game Championships
The format to be used will be the 2010-11 Modified format based on Diamond and Pearl onward through the new Black and White cards to be introduced world wide over the next year.
Video Game Championships
While the official format will not be announced until the spring of 2011, the new Black and Whte video games are expected to be used.
