Invisible Template:Shiny2 Bulbasaur (ISB) is a glitch Pokémon found only in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. It is usually found with the use of an Action Replay walk through walls cheat. It can also be encountered in a wild double battle when using a cheat code to walk over water, or in Victory Road. This glitch doesn't normally happen unless some sort of rule is disobeyed. For example, leaving amity park by walking through the wall, thus the game still has information that someone is traveling with you. When entering a battle with a wild pokemon, the last trainer you partnered with, (Mira, Marley, Cheryl, Buck, or Riley) will appear in that place, but with an ISB or DPBox. There will be a wild pokemon, and an ISB on the other side. You can't catch the ISB as it always faints on the first turn no matter what.

Invisible shiny Bulbasaur always appears at Lv.0 with 0 Max HP, similarly to ?????????? in Generation III. Its name appears as "dl dl..." appearing several times; a message displaying its name will have a glitched transition into the next message. It does not appear to have any usable attacks — in double battles, the only attack it can use is Struggle. It is apparently invisible, although it may have a sprite resembling DPBox's (when it uses Struggle in a double battle, or when its animation occurs when it enters battle, the bottom of a sprite resembling DPBox's is visible at the top of the screen). Its name is derived from the fact that at the start of a battle it sparkles like a shiny Pokémon, and Bulbasaur's cry is heard, suggesting that it is a shiny Bulbasaur. If the player attempts to attack it, the game will assume there is no target and end the battle immediately. Sometimes, it cannot be directly attacked at all and the player must use an attack that affects both enemies. When selecting an enemy to attack, the button on the touch screen representing the Invisible shiny Bulbasaur has no sprite or name.

By using the walk through walls code to walk over water, the player can trigger a wild double battle with an Invisible shiny Bulbasaur and a real Pokémon. An Invisible shiny Bulbasaur's shadow cannot be seen under it. Instead, the shadow is found beside the real Pokémon. The game, thinking that the player is traveling with a partner, will display two of the player's back sprite, one being the player and the "clone" being the nonexistent partner. The partner, whose name is either nothing more than a blank space or the player's name (saying "Pokémon Trainer ___ sent out..."), will send out a DP Box. If the DP Box is made to faint, the Invisible shiny Bulbasaur will consequently faint as well. If the player does not run, then after both real Pokémon have taken their turns, one of the glitches will attack the other with Struggle, causing both to faint (one from damage, the other from recoil). It is also possible to obtain Invisible shiny Bulbasaur by using the instant egg code when two Pokémon are not in the daycare and then using the hatch eggs fast code to hatch an otherwise unhatchable egg. However, this often results in freezing the game. In some rare cases, an Action Replay code input wrongly may cause a permanent roaming Invisible shiny Bulbasaur to appear.

Interestingly, in a wild double battle, Invisible shiny Bulbasaur copies its partner's Speed stat and replaces all participating Pokémon's cries (including DPBox's) with a Bulbasaur's cry. After each attack animation, its HP counter disappears.

Invisible shiny Bulbasaur is essentially a null, which happens when an empty space in the party is called to battle, which is why the game doesn't read it as a real target.
