'M is a dual-type Bird/Normal Glitch Pokémon.
'M is the "sister" glitch counterpart to Missingno., and is found in the Pokémon Red and Blue Game Boy games, much like its "brother", Missingno.. It is most commonly called "'M", since the apostrophe and capital letter M are the only typographical characters in its name - "▄█ 'M ▓▒" is very difficult to produce with a computer. It is also called "'M Block" due to either the glitchy blocks next to its name or the Pokémon's boxy shape. 'M and other glitch Pokémon appear in the games due to a programming oversight.
The encounter flag for Missingno. and 'M is the highest bit of the 6th item quantity; therefore, encountering Missingno. or 'M causes the player to get 128 more of the 6th item of their bag if they have less than 128 to start (this is known as the Rare Candy cheat). Also, if the player has Hall of Fame data, encountering 'M. corrupts it. Aside from that, 'M does not have a real ability; in Pokémon Red and Blue abilities did not exist yet.

Physiology
'M's appearance looks to be a box of pixels in a backwards 'L' shape that is similar to the shape of a Tetris piece, identical to Missingno.'s Normal Form.
Although it seems at first glance to be like Missingno., they are actually different glitch Pokémon with many differences; for example, 'M can evolve into Kangaskhan while Missingno. cannot. (Its evolution is not random: 'M's identifier is 0 and Kangaskhan's is 2.)[1] Missingno.'s cry differs between a shortened version of Nidoran♂'s cry, Ditto's cry, and Dragonair's cry, whereas 'M's cry is a slightly different version of Zapdos's cry. If 'M is traded to the Yellow Version, it will become a 3TrainerPoké, but when Missingno. is traded to the Yellow version, it stays as Missingno. (although it will behave differently than the Red/Blue Missingno.).
In the party, 'M will appear as the glitched sprite of a person in the area where the player currently is.
The blocks in 'M's name depend on which sprite is occupying the spot where the player's Pokémon appears. In battle, the block on the left of its name will copy part of the sprite in the bottom-left corner of the screen (the player's Pokémon), while the block on the right will copy part of the sprite in the upper-right corner of the screen (the opponent's Pokémon). Out of battle, the blocks in its name will change depending on the player's location.
Gender differences
'M's only appearances were in Generation I games, where genders were not yet specified. As a result, 'M has no known gender.
Special abilities
'M is notable as being one of the few non-Flying-type Pokémon to learn Sky Attack.
'M's appearance in-battle allows what is commonly known as the "Rare Candy cheat," the Red and Blue versions' infamous item duplication bug. It is commonly used to duplicate valuable and hard-to-obtain items, such as the Rare Candy (hence the name of the cheat). However, the duplication bug can affect any item in the game, not just Rare Candies. It even affects Key Items, making it nearly impossible to deposit them in the PC. However, this does allow players to revive a large number of Aerodactyl and Omanyte/Kabuto.
Encountering 'M has been known to interfere with the save game data in various ways, such as adversely affecting the Hall of Fame saved data and (if its stats are viewed) messing with some graphics until the stats of a normal Pokémon are viewed. However, neither of these do any significant damage.
Behavior
Having appeared in no canon other than the games, and having no discernible Pokédex information, 'M has no known behavior.
Habitat
'M, unlike most other Glitch Pokémon, has been known to reside on the east coast of Cinnabar Island and the Seafoam Islands, as a result of the Rare Candy cheat. Other then that, 'M has no specific habitat because it was never programmed to be in a specific area, nor was it ever programmed for the player to find it. Since it only exists in Generation I, it is confirmed that it must exist in the Kanto region. Its habitat is confirmed to exist in any location where a trainer in the Red/Blue/Yellow versions can be escaped from before being seen (see Mew glitch) -- however, since a player cannot obtain a special stat of 0, it can never be seen in those areas.
Game data
In Pokémon Stadium
'M and Missingno. can be uploaded to Pokémon Stadium, and (if the game doesn't freeze) will look like Substitute dolls (small Rhydon or Kangaskhan-like figures that appear when a Pokémon uses Substitute). 'M's graphic is blue and Missingno.'s is purple. When viewed in the Pokémon Center, all of 'M's stats will be question marks (including the Pokédex species ID number, even though the Game Boy versions identify 'M and Missingno. as #000). However, 'M will not be allowed to battle, nor will it function correctly in the Gallery (in which players can take pictures of Pokémon). Photos of it will not develop if taken.
If 'M or any other glitch Pokémon is selected in the "see list", the game will freeze, playing the music without the bass track in the background. If a player tries to view 'M's stats, the game will also freeze on occasion. [2]
Generation II
'M cannot be traded to Pokémon Gold and Silver because it supposedly does not exist in the second generation. In the trade center, 'M appears as a Slowpoke or Tyrogue. When the players try to trade 'M, a message appears stating "Your friend's ['M's name] appears to be abnormal." and the trade is canceled automatically. Less often, 'M can be traded, in which case it turns into the Pokémon it was displayed as. [3]
Similar problems present themselves when attempting to transfer 'M or Missingno. to Pokémon Stadium 2. If successfully transferred, 'M and Missingno. will become a Ditto. [4]

Trivia
- 'M's height is 23'0''. If it were compared to all other regular Pokémon in terms of height, it would be the 4th tallest Pokémon, tied with Rayquaza. 'M is more than twice Missingno.'s height.
- 'M's weight is 880.6 lbs. If it were compared to all other regular Pokémon in terms of weight, it would be the 10th heaviest Pokémon. 'M's weight is only about 25% of Missingno.'s.
- LM4's height and weight is exactly the same as 'M's.
- 'M's sprite, movepool, and stats are identical to Missingno.'s, but with two move differences: Missingno. cannot learn Pound, and 'M is incompatible with TM50 (Substitute).
- When the player captures an 'M, the battle will continue with no enemy sprite visable. Capturing "'M" again will result in capturing a Ditto; why this happens is unknown.
- 'M's cry is almost exactly identical to that of Zapdos.
- 'M is twice as large as Missingno., but not nearly as heavy.
- If a level 0 'M is captured and sent to the PC (this also applies to the subsequent Ditto), the game will freeze if the player tries to withdraw either one. This probably started the (fake) rumors of 'M and other Glitch Pokémon being horribly dangerous to the saved game file if captured.
- If a level 0 'M is given 0 exp from a battle with another level 0 Pokémon, it levels up to 100.
Name origin
'M would appear to resemble a sort of shortened version of Missingno.'s name, possibly in reference to its similarity to the well-known Glitch Pokémon. However, the most likely origin of its name is that it was pulled out of other data.
