Doduo (Japanese: ドードー Dodo) is a dual-type Pokémon.

It evolves into Dodrio starting at level 31.

Biology
Doduo is a two-headed, bipedal avian Pokémon. Each head has a long sharp beak and two beady black eyes with no discernible sclera. It has a soft but bristly, Down_feather covering of brown feathers on its body and both heads. The males of the species have black flexible necks, whereas females have brown necks; both genders have brown coloring on their legs. It has two feet, each with four digits ending in a sharp claw.

Even when sleeping or nourishing itself with food and water, one head is always awake and alert and keeps a keen eye out for enemies. Both heads have an identical brain. However, it is believed that on occasion they may possess different sets of brains. It is also theorized that the two heads communicate with some form of telepathy to be coordinated with one another. Due to its almost non-existent wings, it cannot fly very well but has developed its legs to be very powerful runner. Reaching speeds of 60 mph, it energetically strides across the plains leaving large, 4" deep foot prints behind it. Doduo lives in wide open List of Pokémon by habitat
Trivia
* In the Red and Green beta, Doduo was originally known as "Dodo", its Japanese name.
* Before Generation IV, the normal necks of Doduo were black (the male), while its Dodrio neck is the color of the female's.
* According to its Pokédex entries, Doduo can run at 60 mph, while Dodrio can only run at nearly 40 mph. However, Dodrio's base Speed stat is higher.

Origin
Despite its name, it seems like it has more in common with ostriches than dodos. It also seems to show some similarity to the moa, an extinct flightless bird indigenous to New Zealand, and the emu, another flightless bird. It also resembles the kiwi in some ways as well.

Name origin
Doduo is a combination of dodo (an extinct, flightless bird) and duo (a pair).

Dodo is literally dodo.
Gyarados (Japanese: ギャラドス Gyarados) is a dual-type Pokémon.

It evolves from Magikarp starting at level 20. It can Mega Evolve into Mega Gyarados using the Mega Stone.

Biology
Gyarados is a serpentine Chinese dragon-like Pokémon. It is mostly blue, with a yellow underbelly and yellow spots along its body. It has a three-pointed, dark blue crest on its head and four white fins down its back. Its mouth is very large and gaping, bearing four canine teeth. It has one barbel on each side of its face. The barbels are white on a female and the same color as the main body on a male.

Mega Gyarados is more compact than its previous form. The fins on its face, its barbels, and its crest are now considerably longer. A large spike extends downward underneath its chin, and it now has a black underside. The yellow spots along its body are replaced by raised red scales run with a single red stripe below them. Two large white fins appear on its back, similar to those on its face. Most of the other fins along its back disappear, except for the one near the tail. Instead, it now has four white, pointed fins near is tail: two on its back and two on its underside.

Its fangs can crush stones and its scales are harder than steel. Gyarados is infamously known for its fierce temper and wanton destructive tendencies, and is attracted to violence. In addition, Gyarados is also notoriously difficult to tame even after it is captured by the Trainer, usually requiring an exceptional amount of work in taming it until it can obey its Trainer. Gyarados usually lives in List of Pokémon by habitat, such as lakes and ponds or even seas and oceans.
Major appearances
Misty's Gyarados
Misty obtained a Gyarados after passing the PIA test in Cerulean Blues. Prior to the test, Misty was terrified of Gyarados, but in order to pass the test, she had to overcome her fear of it. In the end, she calmed and kept the Gyarados.

Red Gyarados
Talkin' 'Bout an Evolution and Rage Of Innocence focused on a red Gyarados. It was on a destructive rampage until Lance captured it. This Gyarados appeared again in Gaining Groudon and The Scuffle of Legends to stop the feuding of Groudon and Kyogre.

Other
A Gyarados appeared in Pokémon Shipwreck. James was frustrated with his Magikarp and kicked it into the water. That Magikarp evolved into a Gyarados. It reappeared in a flashback in the following episode.

Groups of Gyarados were seen from within a submarine disguised as or styled after a Gyarados by Jessie, James, and MTR in The Pi-Kahuna shortly before the onset of a massive, annual tidal wave celebrated by local surfers who were apparently not aware of the annual migration. According to James, the Gyarados gathered each year in this location to lay their eggs.

In Mewtwo Strikes Back, a Gyarados owned by Fergus was one of the Pokémon that were captured and cloned by Mewtwo. Fergus attacked Mewtwo with Gyarados's Hyper Beam, but Mewtwo turned the attack back on it, knocking the Gyarados out. The Gyarados clone is seen again in Mewtwo Returns. Before Mewtwo appeared, Ash commented that he had heard that Gyarados were hard to train.
Here, an enraged one attacks its own Trainer, Misty, but is recaught by Red, who supposedly returns it to her. The drastic change in attitude of the Pokémon was the result of a Team Rocket experiment as is shown in Raging Rhydon.

Later on, Misty traded this Gyarados to Red in exchange for Red's Krabby which he names Gyara.

Trivia
* In the Pokémon Red and Blue beta, Gyarados' name was Skulkraken, a combination of skull and kraken (a mythological sea monster).
* Gyarados is tied with Magikarp and Regigigas for being the lowest level Pokémon encountered in the wild, as well as also tied with Magikarp for the highest level Pokémon encountered in the wild. In Black and White, Gyarados can be found at levels ranging from level 1 to 100 in the Nature Preserve by using a Fishing in rippling water.
* In Generation II and Generation IV, Gyarados is the first of only two Shiny Pokémon to be integrated into a game's plot (the second was Celebi in Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness).
* Gyarados has the greatest increase of its base stat total of any Pokémon compared to its pre-evolution, an increase of 340 points. It shares this distinction with Milotic.
* As of Generation V, Gyarados and its pre-evolution's Egg Group combination (Water 2 and Dragon) is unique.
* As of Black 2 and White 2, Gyarados is used by three of the eight Pokémon League Champions, being used by Blue, Lance, and Wallace, making it the most popular Pokémon among Pokémon League Champions thus far (although Blue does not always have a Gyarados, depending on the player's starter Pokémon). However, Blue is the only one to use it in the Pokémon World Tournament.
** Gyarados is also a popular Pokémon among Gym Leaders, being used by Blue, Clair, and Crasher Wake.
* Gyarados appears in every regional Pokédex except the Unova Pokédex.
* Gyarados is the heaviest Flying Pokémon and the second largest, being surpassed in length by Rayquaza.
* In many ways, Gyarados is the counterpart of Milotic. Both are the serpentine evolved forms of weak fish Pokémon, and both appear in times of conflict, Gyarados to destroy, Milotic to becalm. Both have base stat totals of 540, the only difference being the distribution of their Attack, Special Attack and Special Defense stats.
* Mega Gyarados has the highest base stat total of any non-legendary Water Pokémon.
* With its Mega Evolution, Gyarados is the only Dark Generation I Pokémon.

Origin
It appears to be based on a sea dragon or sea serpent. Gyarados is partially based on a legend about how carp that leapt over the Dragon Gate would become dragons. Several waterfalls and cataracts in China are believed to be the location of the Dragon Gate. This is referenced by Pokémon Snap, as the player needs to get a Magikarp into a waterfall to evolve it into Gyarados. This legend is an allegory of the drive and efforts needed to overcome obstacles (which can be tied to the fact that Gyarados' pre-evolution, Magikarp, could possibly take a lot of drive and effort to legitimately evolve into Gyarados).

Its Flying may be a reference of koinobori, a carp-shaped wind sock traditionally flown to celebrate the Children's Day (Japan) in Japan, formerly called Tango no Sekku (端午の節句).

Name origin
Gyarados may derive from 虐殺 gyakusatsu (massacre/slaughter) or 逆境 gyakkyō (hardship/adversity)—both words relate to the creature's violent nature and the hardship it experienced before evolving. In addition, 逆 gyaku means "reverse" or "contrary", possibly referencing on how it evolves from a pathetically weak Pokémon to one capable of destroying entire cities and how in legend that the carp goes against the flow of the waterfall in order to reach the top. It may also involve 嵐 arashi (storm) or 争い arasoi (conflict, referencing on how it appeared during wars). The last part may be from ドス dosu (onomatopoeia for the piercing of flesh, again owing to Gyarados' violent nature). Alternatively, dos may indicate that it is the second in its evolutionary line.
Togepi (Japanese: トゲピー Togepy) is a Fairy baby Pokémon, and prior to Generation VI, a Normal Pokémon.

It evolves into Togetic when leveled up with high friendship, which evolves into Togekiss when exposed to a Shiny Stone.

Biology
Togepi is a small, light yellow Pokémon with a round body that is still encased in its eggshell. Togepi does not shed its shell. The egg has red and blue shapes on it. Togepi has stubby hands and round feet with two toes each. Togepi has black eyes and five spikes on its head that seem to form a crown. It also has semi-oval, brown pads on the soles of its feet.

Togepi is able to release poison from the spikes on its head. The anime has shown that it can retract into its shell, which it usually does to sleep. It is able to siphon the positive energy of others, and then release it to those in need of it. It has a very joyful nature. As a result, it is said that it shares its joy with those who take care of it. Because of its disposition, Togepi are seen as signs of good luck, especially if a Trainer is capable of getting a sleeping Togepi to stand. Although rare in the wild, Togepi can most commonly be found living within the List of Pokémon by habitat.
It hatches into a Misty in Who Gets to Keep Togepi?, and since Misty is the first thing the baby Pokémon sees, it believes Misty is its mother. At the end of A Togepi Mirage!, Princess Sara found the Togepi of Legend, and Misty left her Togepi, which had just evolved to Togetic, in the Mirage Kingdom.
In the Pokémon Adventures manga
Togebo
Gold was given an Egg created by Jasmine's Togetic from Professor Elm that later hatched into a Togepi named Togebo. Due to his abilities as a hatcher, Togebo was born with Gold's trouble-making habits, much to Professor Elm's displeasure. Despite this, Gold wasn't able to truly connect with Togebo until the climax of the HeartGold & SoulSilver, where he evolves into a Togetic and then a Togekiss via Shiny Stone.

In the Pokémon Gold & Silver: The Golden Boys manga
In The Golden Boys, Togepi is one of the Pokémon owned by Chris. It was the Egg hatched from Professor Elm's II.

In the Pokémon Pocket Monsters manga
Misty's Togepi
Red borrowed Misty's Togepi in The Pokémon Banana League (Part 1). Later on in the chapter, he returns it back.
Red's Togepi
Red also owned a Togepi that hatched in Welcome Back, Clefairy!! and was later traded away for a Red in Togepi's Determination.

In the Magical Pokémon Journey manga
Togepi (MPJ)
Togepi is a Pokémon in the Magical Pokémon Journey series which first appeared in Eggcellent Togepi.
Super Smash Bros. Melee/Brawl
When released from a Poké Ball, Togepi will use Metronome which will trigger Night Shade, Magnitude, Sing, Ice Beam, or Leech Seed.

Melee trophy information
These adorable Spike Ball Pokémon hatch from eggs given out by Professor Elm's assistant. Common superstition holds that their shells are chock-full of happiness and that they become good-luck charms when handled with kindness. It's impossible to predict which ability a Togepi will call upon when it uses its Metronome move, so you'd better be ready!

The Melee trophy incorrectly states that Togepi's first appearance was in Pokémon Gold and Silver. Togepi's first appearance was actually in Hey You, Pikachu!.

Brawl trophy information
"A Spike Ball Pokémon. It's said that its shell is filled with joy, and a proverb asserts that if you can get a sleeping Togepi to stand up, you will gain happiness. Togepi can lower its opponent's attack power using Charm. Once it has become friends with its Trainer, Togepi evolves into Togetic."

Pokémon mini
Togepi appears in the Pokémon mini game Togepi's Great Adventure.
Trivia
* Togepi is the second Generation II Pokémon (after Ho-Oh) to appear in the Kanto series of the anime.
* The Togepi that is hatched from the Egg from Mr. Pokémon in will know Extrasensory, a move normally only available as an Egg move.
* In what may be a coloring error, the upper two triangle-like markings on Togepi's back are red in its Shiny back sprites from the Generation IV games, rather than blue as in every other generation.
* While baby Pokémon are often revealed before their generation they debut in, Togepi is so far the only baby Pokémon to be revealed before Togetic.
* On the DVD scene selection screen from Mewtwo Strikes Back, Togepi is listed as Pokémon #152.
* In Pokémon Rumble Blast, when Togepi is attacking, it makes a different cry than its usual one that is heard.
** When it faints, however, the normal fainting cry it makes in the other games is heard.

Origin
Togepi appears to be based on the concept of a baby hatchling of any of a number of species of animals. It could also possibly be based on an egg, with its evolutions based loosely on birds.

Name origin
Togepi and Togepy may be a combination of 刺 toge (spike) and ピヨピヨ piyopiyo (onomatopoeia for a bird chirping). It may also be a corruption of Dokkaebi, usually pronounced tokebi in Japanese, which is a mythical being of Korean folklore.
