Is it possible to trade Pokemon from G/S/C to R/B who have learned moves in G/S/C that are available in Generation I but are unable to learn them in R/B? For example, if a Starmie learned Confuse Ray in Gold, would I be able to trade it back to Red although it can't learn Confuse Ray in Red?

:Yes, any move that exists in [[Generation I]] can be traded back from [[Generation II]] to Generation I, just as long as it's on a Generation I Pokémon and that Pokémon doesn't know any Generation II moves.

:The Time Capsule only checks for Generation II Pokémon, and then Generation II moves. :Back then, PokéBalls didn't have any differences when a Pokémon appeared on the battle field. Different animations, as well as a picture of the PokéBall you captured your Pokémon with, wasn't available until Generation III. We should add a little tidbit concerning how the PokéTransfer edits each Pokémon's catch data. That is to say, the Pokémon's....:
* ...capture location is edited from the specific location (Route 30, Power Plant, etc.) to simply the Region where it originally came from (Johto, Kanto, etc.)
::* ''(However I'm not 100% sure that the actual location ID [that is to say, the location ID# the Pokémon originally received upon capture] is truly replaced with a new ID number, or if it keeps its original location ID number that it was given and that all the related IDs are all simply labeled "Kanto" or so, if you get my drift.)''
* ...capture level is edited from the level it was caught or otherwise acquired at (Lv 5, Lv 30) to the level it was at when the Pokémon was transferred via the PokéShifter ("Apparently arrived at Lv. 12").
* ...capture date is edited from the date it was originally captured (if caught in Gen IV) or when it was transferred to the PalPrk (seeing as Gen III didn't record capture dates) to the date it was transferred via the PokéTransfer (that is to say, it deleted/ignores any prior dates and replaces it with the day it came into Black/White)

Basically the PokéTransfer ignores the capture data which makes a Pokémon unique and essentially pretends that the Pokémon suddenly sprang into existence at that very moment in time, with no regard to the unique information it possessed before being transfered. '''I think it is important for this article to mention this data just to warn people about it,''' because "lineage-freaks" like me prefer to have that individual data to remain. ... I also think it was stupid for Game Freak to do that, seeing as Pal Park kept all the data from Pokémon that IT had transferred (well, maybe not the unique location data, but even then it was at least still encoded!)

Now the one thing that the PokéTransfer DOES do right, which I think is a nifty addition, is..... With Pokémon that came from a Gen 3 game, after the text ''"Apparently arrived at Lv. XX"'', it adds ''"after a long travel through time."'' I haven't tested it yet, but I'm sure Kanto Pokémon from HGSS DOESN'T have that text. It thus makes me wonder if the Gen V non-Unova game will be a remake of RSE; that is to say, seeing that we have Hoenn Pokémon from Gen 3 with that "time travel" text, it implies that there will eventually be Hoenn Pokémon WITHOUT it... and a RSE remake is the only way for that to happen! This is also akin to how the location "Johto" was discovered in the code for DPP, or how Gen I and II Pokémon data was found in Ruby/Sapphire, despite no way to actually acquire them in Ruby/Sapphire.

:It doesn't read the location data at all. It reads the game of origin byte. Pokémon caught on, say, Route 3 in HGSS are said to be met in Johto, while on Route 3 in FRLG are said to be from Kanto. That's because the Kanto Pokémon has the "game" byte set for FR or LG, while the Johto one has it set for HG or SS. Regardless of where it was caught. Generator game does that.
