Several Pokémon, such as [[Unown]] and the [[Magnemite]] evolutionary line, do not say anything at any level, other than "Shhnnn... shhnnn..." This should probably be noted but I don't know the best way to word it, nor do I know all of the Pokémon who are like this. They seem to mostly be the "non-biological" ones... Okay, based on my Lileep, Haunter, Vulpix and Lickilicky, I added a couple of others. I remember a full L4 Ghost would say something about chomping on the trainer's neck, but I forgot some of it.

Clefairy's quote on level 4 (I got the ribbon on this level): "If I said there can be friendship between Pokémon and people, will <sc>Pokémon</sc>'s friends understand? Perhaps we should come up with some sort of classification system of sorts. The responses seem to depend on biology and "intelligence" of the Pokémon in question. [[User:PDL|PDL]] 01:30, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

== Classification ==

From my observations, I have figured that there are TWO sets of classification determining which set of lines a Pokémon would say when it is presented to Dr. Footstep. Well, actually, three to be more exact:

1. Whether the game characterizes the Pokémon's species as either "Powerful," "Cute," "Creepy," or "Ditzy." (Note that these are merely the terms that I am using to describe the tone of each set of lines assigned to the species, not taken directly from within the game.)

2. Whether the Pokémon has an actual footprint or not, as indicated by their Pokédex entry. The Pokémon with footprints have lines with more casual, down-to-earth tones, while those without footprints have lines with more ambiguous, mysterious tones. I think this is what some of us have meant by saying, "ghosts appear to have different lines."

3. And there are the "voiceless" Pokémon, like Magnemite, Unown, or even Kabuto and etc. These appear to be Pokémon which the game sees as "not having human-familiar features" enough to be given a humanlike voice. These are usually the species with no distinguishable "face," or "expression".

I'm sure that many of us by now have visited this guy enough to observe these patterns, or agree with it at least (well, maybe it's just me. -_- Dr. Footstep is one of my personal favorite NPC to visit in my D/P games) It's just that I myself am unsure of whether I am in a position to make such an extensive edit to a page. (also not too confident with my own experience with HTML) I humbly suggest, maybe we could make a chart of some sort that includes each set of lines under columns and rows indicating the classifications listed above? {{unsigned|Crystallinefeathers}}

So I just decided to give contests a try, and I pulled out a Buneary from my Box 1. I decided to see what the good Dr had to say regarding its feelings toward me, considering I put it into the box almost after it catching it a while ago. This is what I got....

"Aw....Mike only plays with other Pokemon. Buneary feels neglected. Does Mike not like Buneary that much? Buneary will try harder for Mike. Please be nicer to me!"

Just thought I'd share that to help get the page up to date.
BTW, Buneary and I are on much better terms now :P

::... Except most Pokémon don't start out at that low a happiness rating. Most start off at a happiness rating of 70 while Buneary is special in that it starts off with a happiness rating of zero. Also your building analogy doesn't make sense either since buildings often have basements to them. Either way, it doesn't constitute as a "lvl.1" rating since you have to raise the happiness to even get to the same level most pokémon start out with when they are first caught! :I've thought up some sort of solution to the whole issue with the male/female variations. Possibly a page on [[Gender]] which would go in depth about the effects of a Pokémon's gender on it (are there any, really?) and explain the different gender ratios, and maybe speculate male-only species female counterparts. First of all, I removed the information of a short list of Pokemon that have the same cries to help summarize on how the system actually works. Second of all, I removed the Crobat cry thing, because that's pure speculation. Based on how the game works, Missingno. was improperly assigned Zubat's cry with a different pitch, just like the other Missingno's with Zapdos's cry but with a different pitch. == Similar Cries ==

I know this sounds crazy, but I used the Cry Feature on the Pokédex in Diamond and Pearl and although they '''sound''' similar, no two cries are the same. They have different sound waves and the meters that show volume don't have the same pattern, but if this isn't worth putting in/taking out of the article, Machop and Omanyte might be worth mentioning. I have also noticed that maybe Chansey's cry and Pidgeot's cry are branches of the same cry. If you want more justification for Charizard's and Rhyhorn's cries being different, there is more background noise in Charizard's cry than Rhyhorn's. :Actually, I've compared the cries using a Wave-editor and Charizard's and Rhyhorn's are the EXACT same. No other Cries are the same, but they're really similar. Some Cries also may be similar like Machop's and Omanyte's but their pitch is slightly different, so it's not considered the same. Also I kept that Poliwag's and Ditto's are the same, 'cause they're really similar, althought Ditto's like 0.01 second longer. '''Dusknoir''' is a character from [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2]]. He is a supporting character that plays a significant role in the game. He was first introduced to the player as a famous and wise Pokémon, exploring the world, solving mysteries but later turns out to be a main antagonist.

==History==

Dusknoir has been sent by [[Primal Dialga]] to pursue {{OBP|Grovyle|Mystery Dungeon 2 character}} and the {{player|main character}}s. He pretends to be an explorer who is famous for his wisdom and for exploring alone. At first, when Dusknoir meets the player, he does not know the player's name and he actually rescues the player and the partner from the {{p|Luxio}} clan. He portrays Grovyle as a criminal from the future and says that he is also from the future to bring Grovyle to justice. The [[Wigglytuff Guild|whole guild]] falls for Dusknoir's lie and goes after Grovyle and tries to prevent him from stealing any more [[Time Gears]].

The player and its partner at one point approach Dusknoir with questions about the player's [[Dimensional Scream]] ability and asks if he knows anything about where the player came from. They mention the player's name, with the player noticing that despite claiming to know nothing about the player's memory loss, Dusknoir might have had a small smile. When Grovyle is caught and is about to be taken back to the future, Dusknoir calls the duo up to him and says hastily that it is too soon for good-byes, and grabs them both and takes them to the future before the rest of the crowd even realizes what has just happened. They, however, manage to escape from the future with Grovyle as their new ally.

They meet Dusknoir again at the end of the [[Hidden Land]] and battle him and six {{p|Sableye}}, where he is finally defeated by them forcing back an attack that appeared to be {{m|Shadow Ball}} into the 'mouth' on his stomach, severely injuring him and sending his Sableye running back to the future in disbelief that Dusknoir had lost. After they defeat him, he rises a unleashes an attack on the player and tries to finish it of , but Grovyle steps in and Grovyle then takes Dusknoir back to the future with him to prevent him from stopping the player and their partner from changing the future. Dusknoir, Grovyle, Primal Dialga, the Sableye, and the player are all erased from time when the player and their partner stop Temporal Tower's collapse, but Dialga revives the player as a reward for their sacrifice.

In {{g|Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky}}, Dusknoir, Grovyle, Primal Dialga and the Sableye appear to survive, but are trapped in the dark future. Primal Dialga orders for Dusknoir to be executed for his failure in the past game by Primal Dialga's army, but gets away with the help of Grovyle. The two of them team up together to defeat Primal Dialga.

As they travel through the now-abandoned Temporal Tower and the [[Great Iceberg]], Grovyle and Dusknoir begin to develop a sort of kinship with each other. Dusknoir eventually asks Grovyle why he is willing to sacrifice his life to change the past (hence eliminating the dark future from existence), and Grovyle responds that it is better to live a short life with glory than a long, empty life.

At the end of the Great Iceberg, they see Celebi held hostage by a {{p|Spiritomb}}. Grovyle attempts to rescue her, whereupon he is captured in an electric field; Dusknoir reveals the supposed execution order was a ruse; he intends to possess Grovyle, travel to the past ''again'', and ruin things there. However, Grovyle, speaking of his newly-formed trust in Dusknoir, believes that not everything was indeed faked, that Dusknoir ''did'' identify with Grovyle at some point during the journey. Grovyle is correct - Dusknoir had begun to question whether self-preservation in a bleak future was a good idea. Just before Spiritomb kills Grovyle, Dusknoir rescues Grovyle from the electric field, whereupon Spiritomb flees.

It is at this point that Primal Dialga appears and attacks Dusknoir for his betrayal. The effects of Dialga's defeat in the past (the final boss battle in the main storyline) begin to take effect; time is slowly starting to flow. Dusknoir, now sincerely sharing Grovyle's goal, teams with him and Celebi in an effort to find Primal Dialga. After cornering Dialga at the Passage of Time, they defeat him, and the effects of the past finally take effect in full force; the Pokémon of the future are vanishing, and time flows again. After Primal Dialga vanishes, Dusknoir asks Grovyle one final question: whether this sacrifice is worth his life. With Grovyle's assurance that it is, he finally feels content and vanishes; Grovyle and Celebi follow soon after. Soon, everything in the future is erased from time.

However, the Pokémon of the future (Dusknoir, Grovyle, Celebi, Dialga) eventually find themselves in a newly-restored future, appearing at the Passage of Time, surprised they have not vanished. Dialga, now restored to his normal state, remarks that their resurrection is due to the actions of a {{p|Arceus|being}} "on an even higher tier than itself". With joy and hope restored to the future world, each of them is free to live their life as they truly wish.
