Whereas these items can increase a stat only till it hits a certain EV level, would it not be more profitable to give a Pokémon as many vitamins as possible while it has low EV in order to get maximum use therefrom and still have many levels for it to gain additional EV through battles? Also, it may be worth noting that (at least in generation one), starter Pokémon cannot take any vitamins other than PP up and rare candy.
