===Profile===
... Yeaah. 'Bout that, I'm not really that good at wiki code at all. If anythin', this page'll probably be used for testin' purposes, rather than an actual bio page for this use- Nah! Nevermind that. LightningKimba (Also goes by LK, Kimba, among other nicknames) goes by many different roles, but when you see him normally, you'd probably find him a bit of a jerk at times. His pessimistic viewpoint's often contradicted by his much stronger optimistic fanboy urges, which may make him seem odd to talk to for a long period of time. His negative/positive nature is a result of various influences he gathered since his career as an avid reader of both fantasy and satire novels. His viewpoint, in his own opinion, is of a budding child, on the border between good and evil.

===Duelist===
LK generally uses a Crystal Beast deck, relying on Crystal Abundance to set up for a OTK beatdown with the stronger Crystal Beasts, Sapphire Pegasus, Topaz Tiger, and Amber Mammoth.

He also uses a Spell Counter Control deck, with the centerpiece of his deck being the powerful Tempest Magician.

===Fanfic Work===
Like a Line Drive!. ... That's it, that's all LK made as a fanfic in general. Okay, so that's his "most popular" work, as LaLD!'s the main work he updates, given every other week is a update week for the series. The other week that he's on break is usually used up for catching up on something he generally did not have the time to deal with during the break week (An anime he wanted to watch, but kept putting it off, finishing off a book he has not read in a long while...).

{{incomplete}}

'''IQ''' is a skill system in [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team]], [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness|Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness]] and [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky]]. By gaining IQ points, various benefits are received. It is increased by feeding {{DL|Food and Gummis|Gummis}} to individual Pokémon.

As a Pokémon's IQ increases, they learn a number of skills to help traveling in dungeons. IQ also takes on some of the effects that [[happiness]] has in the main series meaning that certain Pokémon require an increased IQ to evolve.

While this game mechanic is named after the {{wp|intelligence quotient}}, there is a difference between the two. When speaking to {{p|Alakazam}} or {{p|Noctowl}} in dungeons, they will mention their high IQ, regardless of how many points they have in this mechanic.

==IQ points==
While the actual IQ points of a Pokémon is a hidden number, their level of IQ is represented through the number of stars in their summary. From this, it is possible to find out the approximate range of a Pokémon's IQ number.

The number of IQ points a Pokémon gains from each Gummi depends on the type of Gummi. Each is said to be preferred by a particular type. The relation of that type to the type of the Pokémon being given the Gummi can be used to work out the amount of IQ points the Pokémon will gain:

{| {{Bluetable|background: white; margin: auto;}}
|- style="background: #ccf;"
! Relation to type
! IQ points gained
|-
| Matches Pokémon's type
| 7
| Ineffective against Pokémon's type
| 1
|}

In the case of dual-types, this is calculated for both types individually with the two totals then being added together. Because of this, Pokémon with two types will increase their IQ at a faster rate than Pokémon with just one type. The effectiveness of a type against a Pokémon of the same type does not impact as the same type automatically gains the seven points in that case.

For an example, take a dual-type {{2t|Water|Ground}} Pokémon such as {{p|Swampert}}. A Blue (Water) Gummi will add 11 IQ points as it is a Water type (+7) and Water attacks are strong against Ground Pokémon (+4). A Yellow (Electric) Gummi will add 5 IQ points as Electric attacks are strong against Water Pokémon (+4) and ineffective against Ground Pokémon (+1).

==IQ skills==
A Pokémon's IQ skills can be checked in the menu under each individual team member at any time in dungeons or friend areas. While there are a total of 23 skills, it is only possible to have twelve active at a time. While the five skills without a group can be active simultaneously, there can only be one active skill from groups 1-7 at any time.
| Item Catcher
| All Pokémon
| The Pokémon can catch and hold a thrown item. It can’t make a catch if it is already holding an item. It also can’t catch Seeds and drink items.
|
|-
| Partner Pokémon
| If this Pokémon has a foe targeted for a move or a thrown item, it will check first for walls and other Pokémon that may get in the way. It will stop if there is an obstacle.
| In the case of [[linked move]]s, Course Checker will only check the first one. So if the combination is {{m|Growl}}+{{m|Razor Leaf}}, the Razor Leaf could still be wasted as it has more terrain limitations than Growl.
|-
| 0
==Evolution==
All Pokémon that evolve by happiness in the main series require an increased IQ to evolve in Mystery Dungeon. The number of IQ stars required varies between species.
==Moves==
The moves {{m|Frustration}} and {{m|Return}} deal set damage depending on the IQ level. With no IQ points, Return does 5HP damage while Frustration does 45HP damage. At maximum IQ, these values are reversed. While they are weak attacks in Mystery Dungeon, Frustration is useful in [[Wish Cave]], [[Joyous Tower]] and [[Purity Forest]] where the Pokémon's IQ level is temporarily reduced to 0 along with their level being temporarily reduced 1.

A select few Pokémon can learn special moves if their IQ is high enough:
==IQ groups==
In [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2]], Pokémon are split into 10 IQ groups (from A to J), which affects what types of IQ skills they will learn. What follows is a list of skills and which Group they belong to. Note that some IQ skills appear in more than one group, especially those which are learnt at the start. Also, unlike in the [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 1|first games]], every IQ skill can be turned on.
'''Apollo''' (Japanese: '''アポロ''' ''Apollo'') is one of the four [[Team Rocket]] [[Rocket Executive|Executives]] introduced in {{game|Gold and Silver|s}}. However, he went unnamed until {{game|HeartGold and SoulSilver|s}}.

==In the games==
Apollo is the interim head of Team Rocket during the absence of [[Giovanni]]. He leads the team in its takeover of the [[Johto Radio Tower]], aiming to locate his missing leader and bring him back to the team.

Just like other Executives, Apollo has got a major overhaul in {{game|HeartGold and SoulSilver|s}}, where his identity was expanded on. In addition, his color scheme got noticeably switched.
==Trivia==
* Apollo's design in [[Generation IV]] is based upon the original sprite of all male [[Rocket Executive]] from [[Generation II]]. The other two male Executives (now known as {{OBP|Lance|Team Rocket}} and [[Lambda]]), who also used that sprite, were given entirely new designs. Similarly, [[Athena]]'s design is based on the original female Executive sprite, being the only female Executive in Johto.
* Before Apollo's name and identity was revealed in [[Generation IV]], [[Pokémon Special]] and [[Pokémon Gold & Silver: The Golden Boys|Golden Boys]] have adapted original male Executive as [[Keane]] and [[Grey]], respectively. Having same role as Apollo and owning a {{p|Houndour}}, they should be considered as his [[Cross-canon counterparts]].
* Considering [[Saturn]] is left the assets of Team Galactic in [[Cyrus]]'s absence, Apollo could be seen as his parallel, as he controls Team Rocket in [[Giovanni]]'s absence. Coincidentally, the US's Apollo program was launched using {{wp|Saturn V}} rockets.
Oh, ok. But this would mean, he got older as he appears again in the FR/LG series and certainly looks older. Same applies for Green and Blue. --[[User:Nyoo|nYoo]] 15:18, 4 Aug 2005 (CDT)

[[Pokémon Red and Blue]] take place at the same time as [[Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen]]. It's the exact same storyline (defeating TR, etc.) except with the Sevii Islands added. Red did not become Pokémon Master in Generation II! He became one in Generation I by beating Blue. In Generation II he must have be beaten by Lance and lose this title because he is just "Pokémon Trainer". - [[User:Maxim|Maxim]]

Well, really, there's no clear definition of what a "pokémon master" is. Also, there is no confirmation that Red was actually beaten by Lance, considering that Red leaves the E4 after beating Blue anyway in RBY. The only confirmed trainer to defeat him is Gold. I apologize for changing it though, I copied it to edit before you changed it, then added it later.- Shaddow Boy

The proof: [[Pokémon Master]]. I think it would be more appropriate to change that last line to, "Red is no longer the champion, and Lance has become one." Considering Red's team was much better leveled than Lance's, it seems unlikely that Lance beat him out in a battle. Besides, according to the aforementioned article, whether or not he's the champ, he could still be a master-Shaddow Boy

==Yellow==
Should it be noted that Red's Generation II sprite is the one from Yellow, which, in turn, was inspired by Ash? Maybe note somewhere in the article that Ash's character design is based on Red, even though they are not the same people?

==SSB==
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n01/n64/software/nus_p_nalj/smash/PostResult2.html
Do you think this bears mention? This was a "poll" of sorts conducted by Sakurai in May 1999, asking players what characters they wanted to see in Super Smash Bros if they ever made a sequel. Tied for number twelve(the middle one) is "Satoshi (Protagonist)" from the "Pocket Monsters" series. While it's true that Red's official Japanese name is actually "Redo" and not "Satoshi", this poll was taken 6 months prior to the release of Pokemon Gold and Silver, so his name hadn't been made official yet. Also, one might note that Red got more votes than did Diddy Kong, who is considered a likely character for Brawl, or Meta-Knight, who is already confirmed. ---Shaddow Boy
:Are you sure that they intended that it be Red, and not Ash? Ash is the protagonist of the Pocket Monsters series, meaning the anime series.

:Though I see that they did take those votes to heart, as Bowser's on top, then there's Peach, Ganondorf, and Mewtwo. Maybe they'll allow Banjo and Kazooie to be in Brawl... [[User:TTEchidna|TTE]] 01:31, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
::The fact that Rare belongs to Microsoft, as well as Banjo's removal from Diddy Kong Racing DS, should answer your question. My quesion is, though, what would Red do if he was put in SSBM? What would his moves be?
:::Still, SSBB is allowing third-party characters, and Sega and Nintendo have been in talks... Plus, Rare did say something about a Banjo game coming for DS as well, so they may have removed Banjo from DKRDS in order to make it more just Diddy Kong racing, and not Rare Character Racing. [[User:TTEchidna|TTE]] 03:01, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

::Pocket Monsters is also the name of the game series, pokemon is just a shortened version. Red was, at the time of the poll, the only protagonist in the video game series. It's also entirely possible that the two(Ash and Red) were not entirely distinguished as separate characters yet. Anyways, as for Red's moves, I'm not entirely sure why that's relevant to whether or not this should be mentioned, but I'll answer, I guess. Red actually has a lot of potential for a moveset if you think about it, a lot more than some characters in SSBM, anyways. Red has all of his items that he uses in the game; poke balls, for capturing opponents; the super rod, as an extended grab; Repel, which could act as a fumy shield; or... well... basically any item in the game could be given an SSB function. In addition, Red could probably pull out a pokemon for a few of his attacks. Not literally "pull out", but, for example, for his third jump, he could quickly open a poke ball, releasing a flying pokemon to use Fly and carry him upwards. For regular attacks, he would probably use a mixture of punches, kicks and various items. --- Shaddow Boy
Red doesn't seem to have any role in Pokemon Battle Revolution... however, the first Pokemon Battle Revolution Trailer specifically featured Red and Leaf, rather than the 4th gen protagonists. Does this merit mention?---Shaddow Boy
== Stop! ==

I got enough of this, let's stop this friggin' crap! Red's team does not reference Pokémon Special. Remember for your lives, Special is based on game, never oppositely! Red got Espeon in game first. He also never had all three starters in the manga (he only borrowed them for short time, for the sake of referencing game team). Then, the team does not reference anime. It's just a power-uped team from [[Pokémon Yellow]] (yeah, Yellow references anime, but the team does not). Look, all his Pokémon are derived from events in the GAME, not in anime.
* Pikachu - starter in the game (and the starter is usually the strongest Pokémon)
* Venusaur - Bulbasaur from Cerulean City
* Charizard - Charmander from Route 25
* Blastoise - Squirtle from Vermillion City
* Snorlax - From either Cycling Road or Silence Bridge
* Espeon - Eevee from Celadon Mansion

==Know the Difference between a FACT and an ASSUMPTION==
This quote right here gives me a lot of issues. A lot of them.
::''When Red is encountered in Mt. Silver during Generation II, he has no speech, merely repeating an ellipsis before beginning the battle. '''This is a reference''' to the fact that during Generation I he is a silent protagonist, answering only "yes" or "no" questions. After he is defeated, the screen blacks out and he vanishes, a reference to the fact that as the player, Red would black out and awake in the last-used Pokémon Center when he ran out of Pokémon.''
...And it most definitely has nothing to do with the fact every player character experiences many yes/no feedback and "black outs" after defeat? That's ridiculous. Red's lack of dialog in GSC might simply be '''the creator's attempt to leave the character up to an individual's perception''', but that too happens to be ''my'' assumption.
:Unless someone can directly reference this to a pamphlet or quote of some sort, I think this trivia is in dire need of revision or deletion. [[User:RWMVG1DC|RWMVG1DC]] 23:09, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
:I consider the silent protagonist/ellipsis thing to be reasonable. I agree that the blacking out makes no sense, though, and should be removed. [[User:IIMarckus|IIMarckus]] 06:20, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
::Yeah... I think the disappearance is Red doing a ninja/Sheik thing. The ellipsis is definitely due to the fact that he was a silent protagonist, although I'm not sure if I'd word it as a "reference." --[[User:Martonimos|((<font color="#008000">Marton</font>]] [[User talk:Martonimos|<font color="#50C878">imos</font>))]] 06:50, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
:::I can accept that Red doesn't answer with anything but an ellipses in Gold/Silver, because it's very likely it '''is''' a reference to him being a silent protagonist. Him speaking would be completely strange and just not fitting, considering ''you'' were Red in the previous games. Speaking requires personality, and you are supposed to be the personality. This piece of trivia fits.

:::But the second part does '''not'''. There is no evidence to indicate anyone but Red and yourself black out when you lose a battle, so it can't be assumed that this is the case with Red at this point. I always felt that the blackened screen was representative of Red escaping, not blacking out. As clearly shown above, I'm not the only person to think this. And since the opinion can vary, no single one can be presented as fact. [[User:Redstar|Redstar]] 22:52, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
== Red in GSC being based off of Ash? ==

"His team references Pokémon Yellow, which is based on the anime, causing many to call him Ash."
The final boss in GSC, AKA Red, was not based off of [[Ash]]. It was based off of {{special|Red}}, from the Pokemon Adventures manga.
Red's team in GSC is {{p|Pikachu}}, {{p|Espeon}}, {{p|Snorlax}}, {{p|Venusaur}}, {{p|Charizard}}, and {{p|Blastoise}}.

Out of those, Ash has a Pikachu, Snorlax, and Charizard.
Red from the manga has Pikachu, Espeon, Snorlax, Venusar, AND would have Charizard and Blastoise borrowed from Blue and Green while he was training in Mt. Since they didn't wanna canonize and give Red and Green one starter (making Green's team be one of the teams you face with him as champion-- it's actually that minus the starter in GSC), they gave him all three and Pikachu (to represent Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow), Espeon (because you could get an Eevee in RGBY), and Snorlax (because the one that was blocking {{rt|16}} isn't there, but the one blocking {{rt|11}} has moved somewhat). '''[[User:TTEchidna|<span style="color:#DAA520">''TTE''</span>]][[User talk:TTEchidna|<span style="color:#C0C0C0">chidna</span>]]''' 16:51, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
::::Also, Pikachu has Iron Tail, Volt Tackle, Quick Attack, and Thunderbolt now. Seems like a blatant reference to me. However, it must be emphasised that even though it's a reference with Lapras and the starter trio, Snorlax and Pikachu, he is STILL not Ash. However, this pretty much nips it in the bud that he was ever a reference to Red (manga) - more so, Red's team in the manga seems moreso based on Red himself in the game, setting up his team to be ready so that it would mimic the game, not the other way around. With them retconning the Espeon out of existence, adding Lapras, making Pikachu even more of a reference, it seems they REALLY didn't want people making the confusion.[[User:Kumori Satosuke|Satosuke]] 23:16, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
:::::Agreed, Red's team is a blatant reference to Ash, especially with the changes made in HGSS. It's not a reference to Special, however; Special got Red's team from the games. [[User:Reign|Reign]] 21:17, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

I've not read the manga, but I always thought the high-powered team lead by a really overleveled Pikachu made it clear it was supposed to be Ash. [[User:Drake Clawfang|Drake Clawfang]] 21:41, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

:The only reference to the anime is Red's Pikachu. The other Pokémon were chosen because they were somewhat canonical (ie: Red got Lapras from that Silph scientist, Eevee from the guy in Celadon and Snorlax from when he fought and caught the Snorlax that was blocking the path to Fuchsia). Some could argue that they replaced Espeon with Lapras because of Ash, but that is up to debate. Methinks they did it just so that his team would have only Kanto Pokémon, as a reference to the fact that he was the player character during Gen I. - [[User:Crystal Master|Crystal Master]]
::Yes, I believe this is what happened now. Its based on the player from Yellow. :::Red in GSC is based on the player of Yellow. But player of Yellow was Red, not Ash. --[[User:Maxim|Maxim]] 13:52, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
::::I disagree. Just because Yellow Red can get all the starters it doesn't mean that G/S/C Red is based on him. Like TTE said, they just gave him all the Gen I starters because they didn't want to canonize a single one. Considering that G/S/C Blue is based in R/G/B Blue and that there are hints in G/S/C that it follows the plot of R/G/B rather than Yellow (such as Cerulean City having the house with the old man who trades Pokémon with you in R/G/B, rather than the house's Yellow counterpart that had the girl who gave Yellow his Bulbasaur), G/S/C Red is based on R/G/B(/Y?) ==Hints==
===Angie's hints===
* She copied Ash's training strategy with her rented {{p|Monferno}}.
* Angie is one of the few people to pose with Ash in his "I got a [insert item/badge/Pokémon]!" tradition.
* Angie seems embarrassed and blushing a lot looking at Ash sometimes in [[DP091]], showing she was really touched by his gestures.
* In the same episode she looked sad when Ash said that he saved her because they are friends, showing she probably expected a "more than a friend" answer.
* Angie retains these feelings and blushes when Ash compliments her in [[DP098]].

===Ash's hints===
* Ash risked his life to save Angie from the ghost girl in ''[[DP090|Ghoul Daze!]]''. Angie even told him at one point to save himself, but he refused and even said he'd never drop her.
* Ash saved her again from falling down a cliff in ''[[DP091|One Team, Two Team, Red Team, Blue Team!]]''.
* Ash was looking forward to meeting Angie again in [[DP098]].
* Ash defended Angie's actions to her parents in the same episode.

===General hints===
* They developed a fierce rivalry, but ended it on a note of friendship.
* Angie and Ash have exchanged high-fives and fist bumps, something Ash has rarely done with anyone.
* When split into teams, Ash and Angie always partner up. They also get into a lot of trouble together. Even when not partners, they tend to spend time together.
* Angie's {{p|Shinx}} and Pikachu get along well.
* Both share many personality traits, such as a love of food and excellent battling skills.
* In some scenes, the two can be seen staring at each other, most notably the closing frame of ''[[DP088|Camping It Up!]]''.
* In [[DP098]], Angie's parents knew about Ash as the boy which their daughter talked about many times. They even teased her and suggested that she can marry Ash and they could take care of the [[Daycare]] center in the future.
'''Squirtle''' ([[List of Japanese Pokémon names|Japanese]]: '''ゼニガメ''' ''Zenigame'') is a {{type2|Water}} Pokémon.

It [[Evolution|evolves]] into {{p|Wartortle}} starting at [[level]] 16, who evolves into {{p|Blastoise}} starting at [[level]] 36.

Along with {{p|Bulbasaur}} and {{p|Charmander}}, it is one of three [[starter Pokémon]] the player receives at the beginning of [[Pokémon Red and Green Versions|Pokémon Red, Green]], [[Pokémon Red and Blue Versions|Blue]], [[Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen Versions|FireRed, and LeafGreen]].

==Biology==
===Physiology===
[[Image:Squirtle in shell.jpg|thumb|left|In its shell|150px]]Squirtle is a bipedal turtle with its most notable feature being the hard shell on its back. This shell forms and hardens on its back after birth. It could perhaps be distantly related to some other turtle-like Pokémon, such as {{p|Torkoal}} and {{p|Turtwig}}, but Squirtle seems to only be closely related to its evolutions.

Squirtle's shell is an extremely helpful defensive tool. It can {{m|withdraw}} into the shell to block physical attacks. Its smooth, hard shell and head also aid it in other ways, such as minimizing its resistance in water to increase its swimming speed, and allowing it to launch attacks like {{m|Rapid Spin}} and {{m|Skull Bash}}.

Squirtle is a natural-born swimmer. However, due to its size, it's easier for it to transport something small like a {{p|Pikachu}} than to carry its trainer.

Its jaws may not look like much, but they are strong enough that a Squirtle can learn to use a {{m|Bite}} attack.

====Gender differences====
None.

====Special abilities====
Squirtle can spray water from its mouth. At first, it may only be able to spray foam and {{m2|Bubble|bubbles}}, but with time it can learn to spray water jets like {{m|Water Gun}} and {{m|Hydro Pump}}. If it {{m|withdraw}}s, it can still spray water out the holes in its shell.

It can also be easily taught {{type2|Ice}} moves like {{m|Ice Beam}} and {{m|Blizzard}}.

===Behavior===
Squirtle are scarce in the wild. Most are domestic Pokémon, raised to be distributed as starters by [[Professor Oak]]. As such, they are regarded as well-behaved Pokémon. They are not regarded as the easiest or hardest for a trainer to raise, since they are not as mild-mannered and easy as {{p|Bulbasaur}} but they are not as rash and hard as {{p|Charmander}} and its evolutions, and it has a type advantage against the first [[Kanto]] [[Gym Leader]], [[Brock]].

They are very loyal to their groups, but they get along better with other Pokémon than with humans, and can sometimes have a bit of an attitude towards humans. It is far from uncommon for them to start or join larger groups, such as the [[Squirtle Squad]] in ''[[EP012|Here Comes the Squirtle Squad]]'' and a civilization of Squirtle and its evolutions in ''[[EP060|Beach Blank-Out Blastoise]]''.

===Habitat===
[[Image:Watersedge.gif|right|frame|[[List of Pokémon by habitat#Water's-edge Pokémon|Water's-edge Pokémon]]]]
Squirtle are scarce in the wild. Sometimes they can be found living on secluded islands in the ocean or swimming in the rivers of deep canyons, but their chief habitat seems to be small freshwater ponds and lakes. Overall they are found far more often in urban settings, usually in the ownership of trainers.

===Diet===
{{main|Pokémon food}}

Their diet is the usual omnivorous diet of a Pokémon.

==In the anime==
[[Image:TheSaffronCon.jpg|thumb|May's Squirtle using {{m|BubbleBeam}}]]
Squirtle was mentioned in the first episode of the anime, ''[[EP001|Pokémon - I Choose You!]]'', as one of the three [[starter Pokémon]] new trainers in [[Pallet Town]] can choose from. Ash dreamed of owning one, and it was his first choice of a starter. However, when he arrived at [[Professor Oak|Oak]]'s lab, he found out it was too late, as another trainer who started the same day had already taken it. It wasn't until ''[[EP269|The Ties that Bind]]'' that it was revealed that the trainer who took Squirtle was none other than [[Gary Oak]], Ash's [[rival]]. By then, it had already evolved into a {{TP|Gary|Blastoise}}.

The first real Squirtle appeared in ''[[EP012|Here Comes the Squirtle Squad]]''. The [[Squirtle Squad]] were a gang of rogue Squirtle who were deserted by their trainers. Ash befriended and captured their [[Ash's Squirtle|leader]], while the rest of them became a firefighting group. Squirtle stayed with Ash until ''[[EP147|The Fire-ring Squad!]]'', when it returned to the Squirtle Squad.

{{an|May}} recieved her own [[May's Wartortle|Squirtle]] from [[Professor Oak]] in ''[[AG133|The Right Place and the Right Mime]]''. May's Squirtle was very young and timid, until evolving before ''[[DP077|Staging a Heroes Welcome]]''

In ''[[H014|Journey to the Starting Line]]'', a set of the three [[Kanto]] starter Pokémon in which a boy named {{ka|Gilbert}} was supposed to choose from as his starting Pokémon were scared off by [[Ash's Tauros]]. [[Professor Oak]], {{Tracey}}, [[Delia Ketchum]] and Gilbert had to split up and find the three missing Pokémon. Squirtle was the second one found. The Tiny Turtle Pokémon was stuck in a tree that was hanging over a cliff. [[Ash's Bulbasaur]] managed to catch the Squirtle before it could fall off the cliff.

The main character in ''[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Team Go-Getters out of the Gate!]]'' special is a Squirtle that claims that he used to be human. He joins Team Go-Getters in their rescue work. While he can't use {{m|Water Gun}}, he is happy to use {{m|Bubble}} because it looks pretty.

==In the manga==
In [[Pokémon Special]], {{Special|Blue}} stole a Squirtle from [[Professor Oak]]. It has since evolved into a {{p|Blastoise}}.

In [[Magical Pokémon Journey]], [[Almond]] owns a Squirtle, who sees him as an older brother.

In [[Pokémon Zensho]], [[Shigeru (Zensho)|Shigeru's]] starter Pokémon was a Squirtle he received from his grandfather, Professor Oak.

[[Misty]] has a Squirtle in the [[Pokémon Newspaper Strip]].

[[Ash's Squirtle]] was shown in some chapters of the [[Electric Tale of Pikachu]]. {{AP|Pikachu}} also meets an abandoned Squirtle who helps him reach the [[Hidden Village]] after getting lost.
[[Image:Squirtle Waterfall.jpg|200px|right|thumb|[[Red (game)|Pokémon Trainer]] commanding Squirtle to use {{m|Waterfall}} in [[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]].]]
===[[Super Smash Bros. Melee]]===
Squirtle is the first Pokéfloat to appear. Play begins on its head and arms until it slowly leaves off the bottom of the screen. After traveling through all the Pokéfloats, the screen will be empty for a few seconds before Squirtle pops up and the cycle begins again.

====Trophy information====
Retreating into its shell and spitting water at its foes is Squirtle's trademark response to danger. It's one of the three Pokémon that trainers can receive from Professor Oak in Pokémon Red and Blue. Squirtle evolves into Wartortle and then Blastoise, ramping up its water powers with each evolution.

===[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]===
Squirtle is a playable Pokémon used by {{ga|Red}}. It can use {{m|Waterfall}} to recover from falls as well as {{m|Withdraw}}, in which case he retreats to his shell and shoots water from the back of it propelling him forwards. It also uses {{m|Water Gun}} to push enemies with a stream of water. Squirtle is a lightweight and uses various attacks using its shell and {{type2|Water}} moves to combat its foes. It uses {{m|Hydro Pump}} in Red's Final Smash, [[Final Smash#Triple Finish|Triple Finish]].

==Trivia==
*As a species, Squirtle has been trained the most of all [[Kanto]] starters by main anime trainers, with {{Ash}}, {{an|May}}, and {{Gary}} each owning one.
*Squirtle had a short appearance in the {{wp|Robot Chicken}} episode Junk in the Trunk, as an animated toy.
*Squirtle is the first {{t|Water}} Pokémon in [[National Pokédex]] order.
*Statistically, Squirtle is the slowest Pokémon out of [[Pokémon Trainer]]'s Pokémon, but in the [[Super Smash Bros. Brawl|game]] it is the fastest attacker. It's running speed is on the lower end of the range, and, seeing that Charizard (the fastest according to statistics) is a fast runner (but not walker or attacker), it may be a hint at the stats of the Pokémon.
*In the US T.V show, {{wp|Malcolm in the Middle}}, a Squirtle doll can sometimes be seen sitting on one of the beds, alongside a Charmander doll.
*Squirtle's family (Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise) is the only Pokémon family that can learn {{m|Bubble}} and can't learn {{m|BubbleBeam}}.
===Origin===
Squirtle appears to be based on a turtle. Some claim its tail resembles a squirrel's.
====Name origin====
Squirtle's name is a combination of "{{wp|turtle}}", for its turtle-like appearance, and "squirt", which can mean either a verb as in to spray water, or a noun as in a nickname for someone who is tiny in comparison to others. It can also be a corruption of "{{wp|squirrel}}", pointing to its squirrel-like tail, but that's less likely. ''Zenigame'' is simply the Japanese word for pond turtle, 銭亀.

==In other languages==
* [[List of German Pokémon names|German]]: Schiggy - From ''Schildkröte'' (turtle or tortoise).
* [[List of French Pokémon names|French]]: Carapuce - From ''Carapace'' (shell) and ''puce'' ({{wp|flea}}, in reference to its height). ''Puce'' can also be a term of affection, maybe because of its cute look.
* [[List of Korean Pokémon names|Korean]]: 꼬부기 ''Kkobugi'' - Portmanteau of ''kid'' and ''turtle''.
* [[List of Chinese Pokémon names|Chinese (Taiwan)]]: 傑尼龜 ''Jíe Ní Gui'' - An onomatopoeic reference to Squirtle's Japanese name, Zenigame. The last character in the name means turtle.
* [[List of Chinese Pokémon names|Chinese (Hong Kong)]]: 車厘龜 ''Che Lí Gui'' - Possibly {{wp|cherry}} turtle as 車厘子 "Chē Lí Zi" is cherry in Cantonese.
Some Bulbapedia members have formed a [[Bulbapedia:Project|project]] to better organise efforts to write and improve articles about '''Shipping'''. ===Structure===
====Title====
All articles should be known as 'Shipping:{name}Shipping' and a page, '{name}Shipping' should be created with only the template <nowiki>{{Shipping redirect}}</nowiki>. There is no need to put <nowiki>{{Shipping redirect|PAGENAME}}</nowiki> because the template has that covered.

Also, at the start of each article in the Shipping namespace you should add a [[Template:Ship|<nowiki>{{ship}}</nowiki>]] template so as to warn people.

If the article is a stub, use the template mentioned below.

===Goals===
# Write good articles on every shipping.
# Ensure that all hints/evidence is in the anime and not from fanfiction.
