The '''Kanto Pokérap''' (capitalized '''PokéRAP''' on [[Pokémon 2.B.A. Master]]) was the first [[Pokérap]] to debut in the [[Pokémon anime]].

The Pokérap contains the first [[:Category:Generation I Pokémon|150]] {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} that existed at the time. Two verses would be played at the end of an episode, and by the end of a five-day week, all the verses would have been sung. A full version of the Pokérap is available on part one of the season one DVD box set, as well as the first seven volumes of the [[Kanto]] VHS and DVD sets, released back in 1998-2001. Beginning with the eighth volume, the Pokérap was no longer available.

It is available on four different soundtracks: [[Pokémon 2.B.A. Master]], {{OBP|Pokémon X|CD}}, [[Exclusive Target Mix!]] and [[Exclusive Toys R Us Mix!]].

* The Mr. Mime obtained through an in-game trade in {{game|Red and Blue|s}} was nicknamed Marcel. This may have been an homage to the late {{wp|Marcel Marceau}}. However, this was not kept in {{game|Yellow}} or {{game|FireRed and LeafGreen|s}}; the same Mr. Mime is nicknamed Miles and Mimien, in those games, respectively.

It appears that it is based on a combination between a {{wp|clown}} and a {{wp|mime}} - together with a popular {{wp|pantomime}}, pretending to be trapped in invisible boxes.

Mr. Mime is literally ''{{wp|mime}}'' with an English male honorific. The assignment of a gendered title has no bearing of its equal male/female gender ratio, as it was named before the gender mechanic was introduced in the games.

Barrierd may be a combination of ''barrier'' (referring to the mime trait of 'being trapped' behind invisible walls) and ''weird'' or ''barricade''.

The Pokémon Dollar and its symbol were both created for the English translation of the {{pkmn|games}}. In the original Japanese versions (except for Colosseum and XD), the currency used is yen and the symbol used is {{tt|円|えん}}, the kanji for yen. As such, the Pokémon Dollar is based on yen.

==Acquisition==
Pokémon Dollars are acquired primarily by defeating [[Pokémon Trainer]]s in battle, or by selling items at a [[Poké Mart]]. Pokémon Dollars can also be acquired by using the move {{m|Pay Day}} in battle, at the rate of either 2 or 5 times the level of the Pokémon using it, depending on the generation. [[Pokémon Black and White]] introduce the concept of [[item maniac]]s. Item maniacs are NPCs who will pay large sums of money for certain items, most of which have no other use but to be sold to these people.

==Storage==
In the handheld [[Pokémon games]] before [[Pokémon Black and White Versions|Pokémon Black and White]], a player's wallet can hold only up to {{PDollar}}999,999. This may cause frustration when trying to save up for the advertised price of a [[Bicycle]] in [[Generation I]] (and its [[Generation III]] remakes) or a [[SlowpokeTail]] on {{rt|32|Johto}} in [[Generation II]] (and its [[Generation IV]] remakes), since both are advertised for {{PDollar}}1 more than the player can carry. The [[Nintendo GameCube|GameCube]] games and [[Pokémon Black and White Versions|Pokémon Black and White]] allow players to carry seven-digit figures of money.

==Alternate names==
Other names that fans have come up with for the monetary note over the years have been "Poké Dollars", "Credits", "PokéMoney", "Pocket Money", "Zenny", "PokéYen", "Pen" or "Pyen". Most fans simply refer to them as "dollars". However, according to {{g|Colosseum}} and {{Pokémon XD}}, the official name for them is Pokémon Dollars. However, contradictions to this are in {{g|FireRed}} and {{g|LeafGreen}}, as well as {{g|Black 2}} and {{g|White 2}}. In the [[Black Tower]] and [[White Treehollow]], there is a [[Baker]] on one of the higher/lower floors, as well as a man in [[Castelia City]] who gives you an [[Amulet Coin]], and [[Professor Oak]] who all mention the currency as "Prize Money."

The [[Pokémon world (Mystery Dungeon)|Pokémon Mystery Dungeon world]] used [[Poké]] as its sole form of currency up until [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity]]. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, Gold Bars are used as a form of currency as well for purchasing items.

[[Mt. Battle]] and [[Pokétopia]] use [[Poké Coupon]]s as their currency; due to both of these locations being battle facilities, they are analogous to [[Battle Point]]s.
