Trivia
*Sliggoo will only evolve during rain on the overworld. Rain caused by Rain Dance will not trigger evolution.
Origin
Sliggoo appears to be based on a slug or a snail. It may also be based on the Lou Carcolh, a mythical serpent/mollusk creature from French folklore.

Name origin
Sliggoo may be a combination of slick, slimy, slug, and goo.

Numeiru is from 滑る numeru (to be slippery) and snail.

The Old Amber (Japanese: ひみつのコハク Secret Amber) is a Fossil which can be regenerated into Aerodactyl.

The Old Amber is different than the other Fossils, being a type of fossilized substance rather than a Fossil named by its appearance; however, the Aerodactyl skeleton in Pewter City Museum implies that it does have its own fossilized remains.

In the games
In the Generation I and III games, Old Amber is a key item obtained in a back room of the Pewter Museum of Science, from one of the scientists, who believes that it could be resurrected. Cut is required to access the room, as it is blocked by a cuttable tree. It is given to the player by one of the scientists working there. If brought to the Pokémon Lab on Cinnabar Island, Old Amber can be regenerated into an Aerodactyl.

In , it is no longer a key item, being demoted to simply an item. It can be found by mining in the Underground after obtaining the National Pokédex. If brought to the Oreburgh Mining Museum, Old Amber can be regenerated into an Aerodactyl.

In , Old Amber can be found randomly by Rock Smash at the Ruins of Alph. If brought to the Pewter Museum of Science, Old Amber can be regenerated into an Aerodactyl.

In and , a Worker in the Ice Rock room of Twist Mountain hands out a random Fossil from previous generations, including Old Amber, once per day. If brought to the Nacrene Museum, Old Amber can be regenerated into an Aerodactyl.

Rocks purchased in Join Avenues of Black 2 and White 2's Join Avenue may contain Old Amber.

In Pokémon X and Y, Old Amber can be found randomly in Glittering Cave by Rock Smash. If brought to the Fossil Laboratory, Old Amber can be regenerated into an Aerodactyl.
Aerodactyl (Japanese: プテラ Ptera) is a dual-type Fossil Pokémon.

It is resurrected from an Old Amber, and while is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon, it can Mega Evolve into Mega Aerodactyl using the Aerodactylite.

Biology
Aerodactyl is a large, bipedal Pokémon. Its head has two vicious eyes, pointed ears and a mouth full of serrated fangs. It has light violet-gray skin over much of its body, two pale violet membranes stretched between its arms and sides. Aerodactyl has plate-like spines going down its back, leading to its strong, triangular spade-tipped tail. Its talon-like feet are capable of scooping up, and tightly clutching any prey or victim unlucky enough to have Aerodactyl swoop down upon them.

Due to the sharp appearance of Aerodactyl's fangs, it was originally throught to be a carnivore. However, the anime shows it joyfully consuming fruit. Still, its sharp fangs are very imposing, and are said to be used to easily rip out the throats of its enemies. With its impressive wings, Aerodactyl is well at home within the skies. It fearlessly sores high, letting out its high pitched cries freely. When at rest it enjoys the safety and seclusion of the List of Pokémon by habitat where it likes to nest. Aerodactyl is extant through the use of fossil revitalization, but is considered extinct in the wild.

When Mega Evolved as Mega Aerodactyl, this Pokémon becomes paler in color and gains multiple spikes all over its body: five on each wing replacing its hands, three on its tail, one large spike on its back and one on the back of each talon-like feet. It has five further spikes on its head, two replacing its pointed ears, two on the sides of its face and one on its chin, along with two black eyebrow-like sections above its eyes. It also has three dark marks on its chest, two small marks and a longer mark between the other two.
Major appearances
Aerodactyl first appeared in Attack of the Prehistoric Pokémon. It scared off the other Generation I Fossil Pokémon that were chasing Ash and TRT. It then kidnapped the young Trainer, who was rescued by his Charizard. Todd took a photo of this Aerodactyl, which was seen in Pokémon Paparazzi. The same Aerodactyl appeared in a flashback in Who Gets To Keep Togepi? and The Fires of a Red-Hot Reunion!.

Fossils of Kabutops and Aerodactyl were resurrected by Annie and Oakley in Pokémon Heroes; in the English dub, they were once used by an evil Pokémon Trainer to torment the civilians of Alto Mare, but were drowned when a Latios brought water to the city. They were sent to chase after Ash and Latias. They have blank, yellow-tinted eyes with no pupils and are lined with a thick black outline.

Putting the Air Back in Aerodactyl featured an Aerodactyl that was revived by Gary Oak. The Aerodactyl seemed to enjoy eating a pear-like fruit that grew in the forests of an island. Team Rocket agents Butch and Cassidy wanted to steal this Aerodactyl in order to present it to Dr. Namba, but were stopped by Gary's Umbreon and Dodrio, and the Aerodactyl itself, who sent the two Rockets flying with a Hyper Beam.

Another Aerodactyl appeared in Wild in the Streets, where it terrorized Oreburgh City after being revived from its Fossil state, until it was caught by Dr. Kenzo.

Minor appearances
Two Aerodactyl can be seen flying within the Tree of Beginning in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. Also, one appeared in the opening of the movie.

A Mirage Aerodactyl appeared in The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon to kidnap Professor Oak and Dr. Yung.

An Aerodactyl made a brief cameo in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky - Beyond Time & Darkness.

An Aerodactyl appeared in the opening scenes of Zoroark: Master of Illusions.
Trivia
* In the Pokémon Red and Blue beta, Aerodactyl was originally known as "Ptera", its Japanese name.
* During its first appearance in Attack of the Prehistoric Pokémon, it was mentioned that Aerodactyl was carnivorous, based on its teeth (and the reactions of the other Fossil Pokémon when it arrived). However, in Putting the Air Back in Aerodactyl, it is shown and proven to be at least omnivorous, based on its joyful consumption of fruit.
* Aerodactyl is the only Fossil Pokémon that does not have an evolution or pre-evolution.
** It is also the only Fossil Pokémon that can be obtained in any way other than breeding it or reviving its Fossil: it is available through an in-game trade in Gold and is one of Hayley's trades.
*** The trade in Generation II was removed in , likely due to the fact that the Old Amber could be obtained and revived in these games, unlike in Generation II.
* Aerodactyl is the fastest Rock Pokémon, with a base Speed of 130.
* Aerodactyl is one of the four non-Hoenn Dex Pokémon available in Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire. The others are Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile.

Origin
It appears to be based upon pterosaurs, prehistoric flying reptiles, particularly the rhamphorhynchoidea branch, due to Aerodactyl's possession of teeth and a long tail. It also seems to possess some dragon-like characteristics, such as that of a wyvern, a two legged variety of dragon, which would explain its being on Lance's team.

Name origin
Aerodactyl is a combination of aero (Greek language for air) and pterodactyl.

Ptera derives from pterosaur.

The Escape Rope (Japanese: あなぬけのヒモ Hole-Escape Rope) is an item available in all of the handheld Pokémon games to date. They originally cost PDollar550 each at Poké Marts, but this was changed to PDollar250 in Platinum (although this was reverted to the original PDollar550 in ). It can also be found lying around on the ground within the game, or held by Pokémon with the Ability Pickup.

Escape Ropes are used, in places such as caves, to warp back to the last Pokémon Center player healed at (or home if player never healed in Pokémon Center) in Generation I, and the entrance from which the player entered since Generation II. This effect alleviates the necessity to have a Pokémon with Dig in the party, when a player wants to exit a cave or similar location quickly.

To date, Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness are the only games that have no use for the Escape Rope; because of this, trading is required to obtain the Escape Rope in these games. Due to the different map system used in those games, the Escape Rope's only use in those games is to either sell it for money or trade it back to a handheld game.

The Escape Rope cannot be used to escape from the Spear Pillar, the Distortion World, or the Hall of Origin, as they are all considered to be outside of Mt. Coronet by the games' programming. It also cannot be used in Turnback Cave.

The Escape Rope is required for an Unown puzzle in Crystal, . Using it opens up a room containing four healing items.
Vigoroth (Japanese: ヤルキモノ Yarukimono) is a Normal Pokémon.

It evolves from Slakoth starting at level 18 and evolves into Slaking starting at level 36.

Biology
Physiology
Vigoroth is a white, sloth-like Pokémon, with a teardrop-shaped tuft of red fur on its forehead. It has stubby, barely noticeable ears, two small, triangular visible teeth in each jaw, and large eyes encircled by brown rings. The two stripes on its back and maw are also brown in coloration. It arms are fairly long in proportion to its body, and its hands and feet are equipped with two sharp black claws. The underside of its hands and feet have circular red coloration, its rear also having a baboon-like patch of red. The fur on its chest, tail, and sides of its maw are shaggy.

Gender differences
None.

Special abilities
Vigoroth can make use of their arms by spinning them in order to attack opponents or anything that gets in its way.

Behavior
Vigoroth cannot keep still because of its extremely fast heartbeat. This causes much aggression and speed, unlike the Pokémon that evolves into it, Slakoth, and its final evolution, Slaking.

Habitat
Vigoroth live in forests. It appears to also be drawn towards colder climates as the Mystery Dungeon series places it in areas covered in ice.
Major appearances
Norman's Vigoroth appeared several times in the anime, the first being in There's no Place Like Hoenn. It also appeared in Love, Petalburg Style and in Balance of Power where it was used in a Gym battle against Ash. It defeated Ash's Torkoal due to its speed but the match against Pikachu ended in a draw due to it being Paralysis by Pikachu.

In The Garden of Eatin, a Snorlax was causing trouble for a man named Marcel by eating the bananas in his Slakoth Banana Garden. No one was able to stop it until one of the Slakoth in the garden evolved into Vigoroth and defeated Snorlax allowing Marcel to capture it.

Minor appearances
Several Vigoroth appeared in Zoroark: Master of Illusions, pursuing Zorua until they were driven away by Ash, Dawn, Brock, and their Pokémon, Infernape and Dawn.
Like in the games, a Vigoroth debuts in VS. Nuzleaf under the possession of the Petalburg Gym Leader Norman. who uses it as one of his most valued fighters. Its battling method mainly makes usage of its adroit speed, with which it often shoots the enemy's attacks back at them.
Trivia
* Vigoroth, Cascoon, Seadra, and Swadloon are the only Pokémon who lose one of their pre-evolution's Ability, then regain it upon evolution to their final form.
* Prior to Generation V, Vigoroth was the only Pokémon that could learn Focus Punch by leveling up.
*Because the only ability Vigoroth can have is Vital Spirit, it is impossible to tuck in a Vigoroth into the Pokémon Dream World.
Origin
Vigoroth appear to be based on sloths, possibly the ground sloth in particular.

Name origin
Vigoroth is a combination of vigor and sloth. It may also be a play on vigorous.

Yarukimono may be a combination of やる気 yaruki (willingness) and 樹懶 namakemono (sloth).

In the Pokémon Adventures manga
*Because the only ability Vigoroth can have is Vital Spirit, it is impossible it tuck in a Vigoroth into the Pokémon Dream World.
