The '''Battle Frontier''' is an area introduced in {{game|Platinum}} that features five different battle facilities. This is the second Battle Frontier made in the {{g|world}}, the {{ho|Battle Frontier|other}} being in [[Hoenn]]. The Battle Frontier is located in [[Sinnoh]] replacing the {{si|Battle Park}} from {{game|Diamond and Pearl|s}}. The {{si|Battle Tower}} is still present and the Battle Factory is a returning venue from {{v2|Emerald}}, albeit not under the same Frontier Brain. The same Pokémon prohibited from entering {{v2|Diamond and Pearl|s}}'s Battle Tower, as well as {{p|Giratina}}'s and {{p|Shaymin}}'s new formes, are prohibited from being entered here.

[[Battle Point]]s are awarded to the player for completing venues. All facilities may be challenged with a friend in Multi mode.

The {{si|Battle Tower}} is identical to the Battle Tower in {{game|Diamond and Pearl|s}}. The player battles seven trainers consecutively in a simple knock-out, progressively becoming more difficult. Trainers will choose three Pokémon to battle with having their [[level]] reduced to 50. Players are not allowed to bring Pokémon with the same items here. Consumed items, such as [[Berry|Berries]], will be replaced after each battle. The player's Pokémon will also be healed completely after battles. Players will then have the option to continue, rest or retire or get their most recent battle recorded on their [[Vs. Recorder]]. The Battle Tower has four modes:

* Multi Battle
* Wi-Fi Battle

The Battle Factory is another battle venue at Sinnoh's Battle Frontier, having basically the same rules as [[Hoenn]]'s {{ho|Battle Frontier}}'s Battle Factory. The player will be able to choose three out of six rental Pokémon and battle another trainer with rental Pokémon. Players can trade for their opponent's rental Pokémon after winning in a battle, but they may not see the Pokémon's status before trading. A person will tell the player what Pokémon their opponent will be using before every battle. It is held in a large blue stadium.

Battles in the Battle Arcade are either 3 vs 3 (single) or 4 vs 4 (double). Prior to battles, all items equipped on the Pokémon used are removed. Trainers play a game board before each match. The choice may affect the player's Pokémon, the opponent's or even the field. The board may land on status ailments, weather changes, level changes, berries and more. It may even land on nothing. The status ailments appear to be based on moves with certain types; {{type2|Steel}}s are immune to poisoning and {{type2|Ground}}s are immune to paralysis. Every battle is called a ''game'', i.e., the first battle is known as ''Game No. 1''. Every effect caused by the game board is called an ''event''.

In the Battle Castle, players must fight seven opponents in a row. Like in the Battle Arcade, all held items are removed prior to battling. Winning allows players to receive Castle Points, which are used in multiple ways. The Castle Points, or CP, can allow players to heal their Pokémon's HP, PP, both, or buy items for use inside the Battle Castle, such as berries. It can also allow players to see their opponents' Pokémon and even increase or decrease their levels by five. In the Battle Castle, Pokémon will not be healed automatically after a battle. At first, the player will be limited to what they can do with their CP, but if they save enough up, they can rank up and unlock more abilities, such as increasing the selection of items they can buy for their Pokémon, or increasing the amount of information the player can get on the opponent. In Multi Battle mode, both players keep their own individual CP and ranks, but can also spend their CP for their teammate's Pokémon's benefit, such as buying an item that their teammate cannot currently.

The Battle Hall features a series of one on one battles. One Pokémon is entered, and then the player can choose an opponent from a list of types. As the player wins agaist each type, that type raises in rank, causing the Pokémon of that type challenged to raise in level, making this the only facility to feature Pokémon above level 50. The Frontier Brain of this facility is battled after 50 and 170 battles, unlike the others who are battled after 21 and 49. Players must also have ten battles in a row before they're allowed to exit. If doing a Double Battle challenge, the player must enter two of the same species of Pokémon.

As the only thing known about an opponent is one of the types of their Pokémon, the game may occasionally throw a curveball, such as if a player chooses to use a {{type2|Fighting}} against their {{type2|Dark}} opponent, they may find out that the opponent is using the {{2t|Ghost|Dark}} {{p|Spiritomb}} who is immune to Fighting moves.

They were present in most houses in [[Hoenn]], but had a limited function here, only showing programs when an event occurs, such as [[swarms|swarming Pokémon]], or the {{player}} changes a Pokémon's nickname at the [[Name Rater]]. They may also show interviews with the player character, who answers by selecting words from a drop-down list. When a program is airing, the television screen will flash, and will not cease flashing until the program has been watched. If an event has not happened to activate a television program, the screen will remain blank and the phrase "''Mom will like this... better get going!''" will be played. The programming is organized by [[Hoenn TV]].

In {{game2|Diamond|Pearl|Platinum}} television screens flash constantly. [[Jubilife TV]] produces many television programs broadcast all around the [[Sinnoh]] region, including the ''Trend Tracker'' show, ''Trainer Research'', and ''Sinnoh Now''. Each program includes information about events happening around Sinnoh, including [[swarms|swarming Pokémon]] and [[weather conditions]] affecting different routes. They may also contain information about the player which is customizable by speaking to a number [[interviewers]] which can be found scattered around the region. Like in the previous generation, the answers to the interviewers' questions are limited, but more answers can be added by learning [[trendy phrase]]s in [[Snowpoint City]]. At the conclusion of each program, a series of advertisements is played.

The events of the main storyline are encouraged by a television program, ''The Search for the [[Red Gyarados]]''. Later, at the [[Survival Area]], the player will encounter the cameraman responsible for this story.

There is also a TV in the [[Old Chateau]] which contains a wild {{p|Rotom}} at night.

==In the anime==
Television has been present in the anime since [[EP001|the first episode]], where {{Ash}} saw a [[Pokémon League]] battle on television. Ash and {{ashfr|his traveling companions}} have met several television and film producers on their journeys, but televisions remained largely unseen until the {{series|Advanced Generation}}. Several characters mention watching {{g|Contest}}s on TV, and in ''[[AG126|Saved by the Beldum!]]'' several supporting characters watch Ash's battle on TV. Like in the games, ''[[Sinnoh Now]]'' is broadcast in the Sinnoh region, with host {{si|Rhonda}}.
